In this exciting chapter of continued growth and expansion for Chase, we’re looking for a passionate Assistant Vice President – Senior Counsel, who will support the development of a leading digital bank from a legal and regulatory perspective.

As Assistant Vice President – Senior Counsel in Berlin, you will be part of a team of trusted advisors supporting the launch of our European hub. You will perform legal research and provide advice, working with senior lawyers on wide-ranging topics and exciting new products and services. You will draft and review communications including with respect to customers, complaints and disputes. You will monitor changes in law and regulation, and you will engage with stakeholders in multiple locations, working on some of the most interesting innovations in this area of financial services. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to the development of a leading digital bank from a legal and regulatory perspective.

Job responsibilities:

  • Provide legal analysis on the development of new retail banking products in Germany
  • Monitor German / EU legal and regulatory developments
  • Draft and review documentation for clients, internal stakeholders, senior management, including communications with respect to complaints, disputes, litigation, etc.
  • Perform legal research on a variety of issues relating to retail banking matters
  • Working collaboratively with Legal colleagues, other business and Corporate stakeholders in multiple jurisdictions

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • German qualified lawyer, with at least 3+ years post-qualification experience in a top law firm and/or in-house financial services Legal team
  • Understanding of banking products and associated banking/payments regulation (CRD IV, PSD II, KWG, ZAG)
  • Team player

Preferred qualifications, skills or capabilities:

  • Knowledge of German retail banking matters and litigation
  • Experience with legal analysis around product development
  • Experience liaising with or good understanding of German / EU regulatory bodies (including e.g. ECB, BaFin, Bundesbank)
  • Experience liaising with or good understanding of the German court system.
