The Prime Brokerage Middle Office comprises of business-aligned support teams for the equity prime and stock borrow & lending traders based in Hong Kong. The business covers all Asian markets; with products that range from cash equity to highly structured swaps. As a Margin Middle Office associate, you will be supporting the Prime business for all client service activities covering trade management, margin & corporate actions across all Asia markets. The team works in co-ordination with global Middle Office teams to ensure round the clock service for international clients.

Job Responsibilities

  • Manage the Prime Brokerage margin process for hedge fund clients, issuing margin calls and performing recalculations as needed
  • Monitor hedge fund portfolio risk and ensure client withdrawals remain within margin excess
  • Collaborate with the Margin Trading Desk to conduct margin analysis, including running “What If” scenarios for prospective client portfolios
  • Respond to client queries in a timely manner to deliver a high level of service
  • Partner with internal operational teams to support the management of Prime Brokerage margin requirements and minimize client impact
  • Act as an escalation point for high-risk margin issues
  • Liaise with clients to explain complex mechanics involved in margin calculations and calls
  • Proactively identify and resolve processing gaps and inefficiencies, ensuring a globally consistent operating model
  • Participate in ad hoc projects and technology enhancement initiatives
  • Provide cross coverage for Prime Brokerage Middle Office team functions

Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in Middle Office and/or Operations (Margin, Collateral Management, Client Service) within the financial services industry
  • Demonstrate solid end-to-end margin experience through a Prime Broker
  • Apply global market knowledge and understanding of securities and derivatives products, and exhibit familiarity with Prime Brokerage business and hedge fund portfolio risk
  • Demonstrate understanding of ISDA CSA and exchange margin calculation processes
  • Show initiative and ownership mentality, with the ability to think creatively
  • Display strong leadership skills and the ability to escalate issues appropriately
  • Organize and multi-task effectively in a high-pressure environment
  • Drive and manage global initiatives and projects across business, industry, or operations
  • Communicate clearly in English, both spoken and written, to a high business standard
  • Build strong working relationships with marketers, clients, traders, and support teams
  • Demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel

Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills

  • Possess knowledge of VBA, SQL, and experience with digital tools such as Alteryx, Tableau, and Robotics
  • Bring experience in process improvement and technology enhancement projects
  • Display advanced analytical skills and the ability to understand client perspectives
  • Demonstrate experience working with global teams
  • Show adaptability to evolving business needs
  • Hold relevant professional qualifications in margin or collateral management
  • Exhibit experience in cross-functional team coverage within Prime Brokerage operations
