As the Senior Financial Officer within Thailand's financial team, you will oversee financial and management reporting, regulatory filings, and internal controls for Thailand’s legal entities. You’ll manage relationships with regulators, auditors, and senior stakeholders, ensuring optimal use of legal entities and robust capital management. Your strategic insight will help anticipate financial implications of new business and regulatory changes, partnering with business leaders to support growth and promote implementation of regulatory reporting and business initiatives.
Job Responsibilities
- Serve as a key member of management and risk committees, including but not limited to Location Management Committee, Location Operating Committee, co-chairing Asset and Liability Committee
- Build and maintain relationships with local regulators and participate in industry associations
- Oversee statutory financial filings and local regulatory reporting
- Maintain oversight of legal entity structure and partner with Compliance, Legal & Risk to ensure appropriate business use of legal entities
- Review location metrics to ensure effectiveness of the control environment
- Manage and ensure capital adequacy for legal entities. Manage the relationship with external auditors and the financial statement audit process
- Partner with the tax function to ensure timely and efficient tax reporting. Partner with Finance Project Team to ensure robust local financial reporting infrastructure
Present and analyze financial information for business strategy, partnering with business leaders
- Act as escalation point to Regional Controller and Business Controller for identified issues
- Lead and manage a team of 7 and oversee a dedicated supporting team in Bangalore
Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills
- Minimum 12-15 years relevant banking and finance experience.
- Strong accounting background, with both management and financial reporting experience
In-depth knowledge of Thailand’s banking regulations (Bank of Thailand, SEC, DPA).
Advanced communication and stakeholder management skills.
Fluency in English and Thai
- Strong analytical skills to provide commentaries, detailed analysis, and recommendations
- Proactive approach to issue resolution and process improvement
- Sound understanding of banking and markets products
- Proven inclusive leadership and people management experience, including cross-functional teams
- Ability to work efficiently and effectively with diverse teams within and outside Finance
- Experience in statutory financial filings and regulatory reporting.
- Prior experience managing relationships with regulators and auditors
- Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize multiple tasks
Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills
- Chartered Accountant qualification or similar professional certification
- Experience in Thailand banking regulatory reporting
- Experience with Basel and capital adequacy management
- Experience in external audit processes
