As an Analyst in our MAS Investment Specialist team in Hong Kong, you will be responsible for providing comprehensive support to ensure the team delivers exceptional service to both internal and external stakeholders. The position offers a diverse range of responsibilities, balancing day-to-day inquiries with regular client commitments, while also contributing to the innovation of our client offerings and the creation of efficiencies within the team. We are looking for a dynamic individual with a strong interest in financial markets and the enthusiasm to proactively drive their own work agenda. You will be a self-starter, eager to bring and implement new ideas that distinguish our products and services from those of our competitors.

The ideal candidate will be task-oriented, deadline-focused, and adaptable to shifting priorities and demands at short notice. The role requires effective coordination with colleagues across all levels and functions, including portfolio management, sales, performance, client account management, RFP, client reporting, risk, and compliance.

Consistent high performance in this role may lead to expanded responsibilities over time, including client-facing opportunities and involvement in product strategy development.

Job responsibilities

  • Support relationships with sales channels and serve as the initial point of contact for inquiries from internal and external client advisors.
  • Prepare regular client reports detailing investment positioning, performance, attribution, strategy outlook, and market commentary. Collaborate with the portfolio management and client reporting teams.
  • Field and respond to queries from relationship managers, sales teams, and clients, ensuring timely and appropriate communication.
  • Lead the maintenance and development of client presentations (pitchbooks, portfolio reviews, etc.) and marketing materials. Your initiative and creativity will be essential in crafting solutions tailored to varying client needs, in partnership with portfolio managers and other investment specialists.
  • Draft responses to client deliverables, including RFPs and monthly, quarterly, or ad-hoc questionnaires. Work closely with client advisors, sales associates, marketing, and RFP writers to highlight MAS’s key competitive advantages.
  • Gather, analyze, and maintain a comprehensive database of information on industry peers and their competitive products.

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in the financial industry / asset management
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver accurate results on time, often under tight deadlines
  • Exceptional attention to detail and strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Flexible and collaborative, with the ability to work effectively across various teams within and outside the product group
  • Positive attitude, creative thinking, and a proactive approach to taking initiative and constructively challenging the status quo
  • Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint
  • Solid understanding of multiple asset classes, including equities and fixed income
  • Strong quantitative aptitude
  • SFC Type 1, 4, and 9 licenses required within 180 days of joining
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Chinese

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • CFA Charterholder or interest in pursuing the designation is desirable
