Analyst - Investment Banking, General Industries & Financial Sponsors Group Coverage

As an Analyst in our Investment Banking coverage team, based in either Sydney or Melbourne, you will play a key role in supporting transaction execution, marketing, and client coverage initiatives for General Industries (GI) and Financial Sponsors Group (FSG) clients. You will contribute to the group’s success while developing your skills and understanding of the industry, and help drive the culture, capabilities, and overall strategy of the business.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Support the full cycle of transactional execution for GI and FSG clients, including preparing marketing pitches, conducting financial analysis, and assisting in the preparation and presentation of internal and client materials.
  • Collaborate with Associates and senior bankers, providing analytical and research support across deal teams.
  • Develop and strengthen your analytical, modelling, writing, and presentation skills, with the opportunity to grow into more senior roles over time.
  • Build knowledge of the global and Australian GI and FSG sectors and their participants, working closely with colleagues across J.P. Morgan’s global platform and Australian product groups.
  • Demonstrate enthusiasm for J.P. Morgan's mission and a commitment to its success.
  • Work with the broader team of over 100 Analysts and Associates across the APAC region, and participate in real-time transactions that may include travel.

Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills:

  • Minimum 1–2 years’ prior work experience in investment banking, with exposure to GI and/or Financial Sponsors Group clients and an awareness of the products and services provided.
  • A well-rounded academic background from a top tier educational institution.
  • Strong financial modelling skills.
  • A general understanding of the M&A and capital markets transaction cycle and processes involved.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with senior professionals, clients, and key stakeholders in other product groups.
  • Proactive, highly motivated, and committed, with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
