Global Corporate Banking - Japan Subsidiary Banker - Associate

Join JPMorgan Tokyo Branch as a Subsidiary Banking Associate, independently managing relationships with multinational subsidiaries in Japan. Drive business growth by developing client strategies, maintaining client relationships, and delivering comprehensive financial solutions across our full suite of corporate banking products.

As an Associate in the Subsidiary Banking team, you will cover local subsidiaries of multinational clients operating in Japan, collaborate with global teams, and gain experience in a dynamic, international environment. The role reports into the Head of Japan Subsidiary Banking.

Job responsibilities

  • Independently cover Treasurer-level relationships for selected multinational clients in Japan.
  • Develop business plans and maintain client relationships.
  • Partner with global and regional coverage banker and sales teams to pursue financial goals.
  • Market non-Investment Banking products (Treasury Services, cash and liquidity solutions, trade solutions, credit, securities services, asset management) as well as in-scope Investment Banking products (credit, FX, derivatives, commodities, sales and trading).
  • Conduct client analysis to identify business needs and support delivery of JPMorgan’s corporate banking products.
  • Own and execute KYC for multinational subsidiaries in Japan, ensuring compliance and supporting risk management.

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Strong analytical and research skills; knowledge of accounting, finance, credit, financial markets, KYC, AML / CFT governance.
  • Proven ability to manage client relationships independently.
  • Demonstratable maturity, judgment, leadership, proactivity, teamwork, and communication skills.
  • Native level fluency in all aspects of Japanese.
  • Business level fluency in all aspects of English.
  • JSDA Class 1.
  • Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint presentation and Financial modeling skills.

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Experience as a banker, client relationship manager, product salesperson, or investment banking associate.
  • Knowledge of corporate banking products: cash management, flow derivatives, FX, commodities, transaction banking, and securities processing.
  • Ability to partner effectively with internal stakeholders and external clients at all levels.
  • Experience with KYC and AML/CTF governance control.
  • Familiarity with multinational client coverage and cross-cultural business environments.
