As a Product Controller in our Banking Product Control team, you will spend each day safeguarding the accuracy and integrity of our line‑of‑business books and records and governing the end‑to‑end transaction control lifecycle. As a Product Control Associate in our Banking Product Control team, you will spend each day executing month‑end and quarter‑end close processes, ensuring the income statement, balance sheet, notes, and regulatory reports are fully substantiated and accurately reported.
You will be responsible for partnering across Front Office, Finance, Risk, and Operations to independently monitor and analyze trader activity and risk positioning, explain drivers of daily and monthly P&L, and ensure timely P&L and risk sign‑offs in line with policy and standards. Our Product Control teams are responsible for a wide range of activities including daily P&L production and reporting, income attribution in line with transfer‑pricing agreements, financial statement substantiation and close, end‑to‑end transaction lifecycle governance, variance and trend analysis, issue identification and remediation, and regulatory attestations on the accuracy and completeness of financial statements—all within a demanding and evolving regulatory environment.
Job Responsibilities
- Partner effectively with Deal Services, Business Management, Middle Office, Technology, Financial Control, and regional Product Control teams to provide support and control oversight, maintain a strong control environment, and facilitate business growth
- Ensure appropriate booking and accounting treatment of fees, expenses, taxes, income attributions, write offs, expense recoveries, FX trade outs, and FX exposure
- Support the month end close in partnership with Financial Control (Delaware and Mumbai) by reviewing the EMEA GIB balance sheet and P&L, investigating variances, and resolving month end issues
- Proactively identify and address nuances and bottlenecks in billing, nostro management, and daily revenue and risk reporting processes
- Participate actively in key Controllers group project initiatives and drive successful implementation
- Challenge the existing control operating model, identify control issues and risks, and implement more effective, efficient control processes
- Rigorously ensure compliance with policies, standards, and procedures, including Corporate Accounting Policies, P&L and Risk minimum standards, Product Control accountability standards, income attribution agreements, and Volcker compliance
- Support implementation of future operating and business models, including system enhancements
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills.
- Part / Qualified accountant (ACA/CIMA/ACCA) with minimum 6 years of experience or an MBA with similar number of years of experience
- Enthusiastic, highly motivated and effective under tight timeframes and pressure
- Proven skills in identifying and resolving control issues that may impact financial results.
- Excellent communication skills and executive presence including the ability to present complex and sensitive matters to Senior management, Bankers & Business Managers across levels.
- Strong interpersonal, communication and team-building skills
- Ability to evaluate the design and effectiveness of internal controls.
- Ability to manage several projects and tasks concurrently.
- Advanced MS Excel skills and MS PowerPoint skills are essential.
