Responsibilities
Execute and lead the Argentine AML programme, ensuring adequate coverage as the business expands including, though not limited to:
Developing and maintaining local AML policies and procedures, being cognizant of new AML laws, regulations and industry best practice of the jurisdiction
Aiding in the development of, and coordinating, internal training programmes
Alert management and investigation of potentially suspicious activity
Ensuring timely escalation of issues including the preparation of local management data / metrics and governance information for the Regional GFCC Operating committee
Analyzing and reviewing new high risk and specialised client types’ KYC as part of the Onboarding process
Lead AML calls or additional due diligence for high risk FCB / Fintech clients across the region, advising the business on related risks.
Review all customer escalations, regulatory fines, and sanctions issues for LatAm TS/FCB/Fintech clients, analyse for inherent risk, propose mitigations, and ultimately execute agreed upon action plans, keeping the line of business and Management appraised throughout.
Advisory and ad-hoc projects for all Wholesale lines of business on Sanctions matters working with the Regional Sanctions Officer.
Work with internal groups including partnering with line of business Compliance, Legal, Client Onboarding, Operations, Audit and Risk to ensure consistent understanding of requirements as well as establishing effective relationships with the Business.
Liaise with internal auditors and examiners where required.
Participate in regional and GFCC level projects and initiatives, partnering with other regional teams and Global Financial Crimes Compliance.
Represent the country and/or region on various global AML/Sanctions/Line of business committees.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent)
3 to 5 years AML Compliance or related experience.
Experience in a control or risk function including AML/Sanctions related experience.
Extensive Knowledge of regulatory concepts including, but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act, Office of Foreign Assets Control sanctions, the USA PATRIOT Act and LatAm in-country Regulatory requirements.
Ability to use information effectively and have an eye to detail.
Demonstrated skills in risk assessment. The ability to make sound decisions, including escalation when appropriate.
Proactive and team oriented with good interpersonal skills.
Well organised and able to execute responsibilities with minimal supervision; ability to prioritize multiple tasks and bring tasks to completion within established timeframes.
Have strong interpersonal skills, and be able interact effectively with senior management in both AML Compliance and the business
Excellent communication skills - both verbal and written English and preferably Portuguese.
Proficient in MS Office (Outlook/Word/Excel/Access/PowerPoint).

The Argentina & Latin America Financial Crimes / AML Compliance Manager will work as a member of the regional Global Financial Crimes Compliance (GFCC) Advisory team and the local Argentine Compliance team, assisting in the continued development and implementation of GFCC initiatives. The individual in this role will execute the Argentine AML programme supporting the local Money Laundering Reporting Officer (MLRO) establishing and developing effective relationships with business partners, and contributing to policy, governance and procedural enhancements as well as various ad hoc AML projects. Regionally the individual will manage AML risks related to Wholesale Payments including those associated to Foreign Correspondent Banking relationships and Fintechs such as due diligence calls, sanctions related matters, as well as escalations, training and presentations. Additionally the role will support the regional Sanctions programme, covering advisory matters and escalations.
