Job responsibilities
- Applies technical knowledge and problem-solving methodologies to projects of moderate scope, with a focus on improving the data and systems running at scale, and ensures end to end monitoring of applications
- Resolves most nuances and determines appropriate escalation path
- Executes conventional approaches to build or break down technical problems
- Drives the daily activities supporting the standard capacity process applications
- Partners with application and infrastructure teams to identify potential capacity risks and govern remediation statuses
- Considers upstream/downstream data and systems or technical implications
- Be accountable for making significant decisions for a project consisting of multiple technologies and applications

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 3+ years applied experience
- Experience in release management, deployment coordination, or DevOps roles in cloud environments. Strong understanding of AWS services and architecture including EC2, ECS, EKS, Lambda, RDS, S3, CloudFormation, and deployment services such as Terraform and Systems Manager.
- Proven experience managing complex, multi-application releases across distributed systems and microservices architectures in AWS cloud environments. Deep knowledge of CI/CD concepts and tools including Jenkins, GitLab CI, Spinnaker with the ability to understand and optimize deployment pipelines.
- Strong understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC), agile methodologies, and DevOps practices with experience coordinating releases in fast-paced, iterative development environments. Excellent project management and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple concurrent releases, prioritize competing demands, and meet tight deadlines.
- Demonstrated experience with version control systems (Git), branching strategies, and release tagging practices. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to quickly assess situations, identify risks, and make sound decisions under pressure.
- Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to effectively coordinate across technical teams, business units, and senior leadership. Experience with change management processes, ITIL frameworks, and maintaining compliance with audit and regulatory requirements. Proficient in creating and maintaining release documentation, runbooks, and process workflows. Basic scripting or automation skills in Python, Bash, or PowerShell to support release activities and reporting.
- Experience with infrastructure as code tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or AWS CDK and understanding their role in release management. Knowledge of containerization and orchestration technologies including Docker, Amazon ECS, and Kubernetes (EKS) and their deployment patterns.
- Experience with monitoring and observability tools such as AWS CloudWatch, X-Ray, Datadog, Splunk, or similar platforms for release validation and performance tracking. Experience in financial services or other highly regulated industries with understanding of compliance requirements and audit processes. Background in site reliability engineering (SRE) practices and understanding of service level objectives (SLOs) and error budgets.
- Experience with release orchestration and workflow automation tools such as ServiceNow, Jira, or similar platforms. Strong understanding of security best practices in release management including secrets management, vulnerability scanning, and compliance validation.
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- AWS certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect, AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, or AWS Certified SysOps Administrator. ITIL Foundation or other relevant release management or project management certifications (PMP, SAFe RTE, etc.).
- Familiarity with feature flag management and blue-green or canary deployment strategies.
