As an Operational Risk Management Lead – Vice President within the Compliance, Conduct and Operational Risk organization, you will provide independent oversight and assessment of the processes, risks, and controls supporting processes and product offerings within the Consumer Card Services business to evidence sound operational risk management and regulatory compliance. Operating under the CCOR Framework, you will partner closely with cross‑functional teams and serve as a primary point of contact for operational risk and regulatory compliance matters, leveraging deep knowledge of consumer credit card risks and regulations to enable business outcomes in a well‑controlled manner. You will be responsible for the design and execution of the CCOR program, which consists of the second line of defense’s responsibilities in managing the firm’s compliance, conduct, and operational risk. Aligned with CCOR’s commitment to world-class risk management, maintaining strong controls, delivering clear guidance on key principles, and proactively managing compliance, conduct, and operational risks, you will evaluate and identify first-line control design and execution deficiencies across the risk and controls framework through risk and control assessments, risk management analytics, deep-dive topical reviews, and governance and reporting practices. Success in this role requires you to to engage senior management and to build credible, trust-based, collaborative relationships across the lines of defense and functional groups inclusive of Business, Legal, Controls, Risk, and Technology.
Job Responsibilities
- Work independently and as a core team member, collaborating across lines of defense and functional groups (Business, Legal, Controls, Risk, and Technology) to ensure effective evaluation of and adherence to the CCOR Framework, while demonstrating strong relationship management and negotiation skills.
- Develop and execute a comprehensive CCOR program to evaluate operational and regulatory risk exposure for the Credit Card business, ensuring robust, risk-based second-line coverage across relevant products and processes.
- Stay current on evolving operational risks and regulations; master risk and control standards; evaluate risk triggers and indicators; review product and process changes; and provide timely guidance for new and existing initiatives.
- Apply critical and analytical thinking to operational risk assessments by designing and executing review activities to evaluate processes, risks, and controls; identify negative trends, control gaps, and emerging risks across business processes and the product lifecycle; and escalate issues promptly.
- Leverage AI/ML (Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning) tools and data analytics to understand and evaluate business data and technology flows, analyze complex processes, and develop oversight routines for monitoring, detection, and reporting.
- Assess and aggregate risks across lines of business and products to produce a consolidated risk view; synthesize results; and present clear, defensible advice and recommendations to senior stakeholders in CCOR and the business.
- Provide an independent, objective view of the control environment, mitigation strategies, and emerging risks.
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Minimum 3 years professional experience in Consumer Credit Card or an equivalent Consumer Lending business and minimum 5 years of banking experience across Risk, Compliance, Legal, Controls, Audit, or Business functions.
- Proven decision-making ability with a track record of managing multiple tasks and priorities.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with high attention to detail.
- Demonstrate capability to learn quickly and manage multiple demands.
- Self-starter who can drive and own their own deliverables while continuing to collaborate with a broader team.
- Strong written and verbal communicator who provides defensible advice and cultivates effective partnerships.
- Comfortable with engaging with all levels of the organization on risk and control matters.
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Operational Risk, Compliance, Controls, and/or Legal leadership experience.
- Proven track record of using AI/ML tools for research and interpretation; designing and executing analyses; aggregating risks across processes and products; and translating findings into clear risk insights and actionable recommendations.
- Advanced qualifications a plus: CRMP, ORM, PRM, CRCM, CAMS, CIA/CISA, or PMP; advanced degree (e.g., JD, MBA, MS in Risk/Analytics) and experience engaging regulators and internal audit.
- Strong data fluency; proficient in self-service analytics and data visualization with tools such as ThoughtSpot and Tableau to support CCOR oversight; able to influence cross-functional partners (Business, Legal, Controls, Risk, and Technology) and present to senior stakeholders.
