JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage and support enterprise database platforms to ensure stability, availability, performance, security, and resiliency.
  • Perform and oversee database installation, configuration, upgrade, patching, backup and recovery, migration, capacity planning, and lifecycle management activities.
  • Support high availability, replication, and disaster recovery solutions and ensure operational readiness through regular validation and controlled testing.
  • Investigate and resolve database incidents, performance issues, locking/contention events, and service degradation, and drive root cause analysis and remediation.
  • Partner with application teams, infrastructure teams, information security, and vendors on solution design, production readiness, controlled implementation, and operational support.
  • Establish and maintain operational procedures, standards, access controls, backup policies, recovery documentation, and platform governance artifacts.
  • Support database security hardening, audit readiness, access review, and compliance remediation activities.
  • Provide secondary support across server and storage-related matters where coordination with broader infrastructure teams is required.
  • Monitor platform performance and service indicators, identify risks and control gaps, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Participate in project delivery, platform upgrades, technology refresh, migration, and environment optimization efforts.
  • Engage with regional and global technology teams to ensure local database services remain aligned with enterprise standards and strategic direction.
  • Support internal audit, regulatory review, risk assessments, and vendor governance activities as required.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS, CAPABILITIES, AND SKILLS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Solid experience in enterprise database administration, engineering, or production support within a controlled environment.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Oracle database platforms is required, including installation, administration, backup and recovery, performance tuning, upgrade and migration, and production support in enterprise environments; familiarity with other mainstream international database platforms such as Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL, and PostgreSQL is a plus.
  • Experience in backup and recovery, performance tuning, upgrade and migration, access control, and incident resolution.
  • Familiarity with high availability, replication, disaster recovery, and resilience testing practices for database platforms.
  • Good understanding of the interaction between database, operating system, server, storage, and infrastructure layers.
  • Strong SQL capability and ability to analyze database performance and operational behavior.
  • Experience working within formal operational and control frameworks, including change, release, incident, and problem management.
  • Strong documentation, communication, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to support production issues, controlled changes, maintenance windows, and recovery activities as required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS, CAPABILITIES, AND SKILLS

  • Experience in asset management, fund management, securities, banking, or other regulated financial institutions.
  • Familiarity with enterprise database technologies and features such as Oracle RAC, Data Guard, ASM, SQL Server Always On, or equivalent.
  • Experience with enterprise backup, monitoring, and performance diagnostic tools.
  • Working knowledge of server, virtualization, and storage platforms as secondary coverage.
  • Exposure to automation and scripting using Shell, Python, PowerShell, or equivalent tools.
  • Familiarity with audit, compliance, control documentation, and regulated technology operations.
  • Relevant certifications such as Oracle, Microsoft, PostgreSQL, MySQL, or ITIL are a plus.
  • For Vice President level candidates, demonstrated strength in governance, stakeholder engagement, and cross-functional delivery leadership is preferred.

This role requires a disciplined and control-oriented professional with strong production support experience, sound technical judgment, and the ability to collaborate with application teams, infrastructure teams, information security, and regional/global stakeholders. You will play a key role in ensuring database services are delivered in a stable, secure, and well-governed manner in line with business, regulatory, and audit expectations.
