Job Summary
As a VP Portfolio Performance and Strategy in the Sapphire team, you set the strategy and lead execution for the Sapphire cards portfolio, balancing growth, engagement, and profitability. You will connect customer insights to portfolio actions, own budgeting and performance management in close partnership with Finance. You will also play a key role to engage senior stakeholders through clear narratives and executive‑ready materials on overall Sapphire performance. Your role will align Marketing, Analytics, Finance, and Product to deliver measurable outcomes for customers and the business.
Job Responsibilities
- Set Sapphire portfolio strategy and roadmap, aligning growth, loyalty, and profitability goals with clear KPIs and milestones.
- Lead portfolio performance reviews, synthesize drivers of results, and translate insights into prioritized initiatives and test‑and‑learn plans.
- Own annual and ongoing portfolio budgeting in partnership with Finance; assess trade‑offs across spend, rewards, and engagement to optimize P&L.
- Define engagement and loyalty strategies, including customer segmentation, and value propositions for high‑value customers.
- Partner with Analytics to develop segmentation and manage segment‑specific treatments that improve activation, usage, and retention.
- Build systematic reporting on segment profiles, sales and rewards dynamics, and results vs. budget to inform pivots and decisions.
- Structure business cases with clear assumptions, financials, risks, and expected impact; track benefits realization post‑launch.
- Craft data‑driven narratives and executive presentations that simplify complexity, tell a clear story, and secure stakeholder buy‑in.
- Coordinate with Marketing, Communications, and Centers of Excellence on portfolio campaign planning, deployment, and effectiveness.
- Proactively engage cross‑functional stakeholders (Analytics, Credit, Finance, Product, Tech) to identify impacts, gather feedback, and drive aligned execution.
Required Qualifications
- Extensive experience in product marketing, portfolio strategy, or related fields with direct ownership of growth and profitability outcomes.
- Advanced analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data, size opportunities, and connect insights to P&L and budgeting decisions.
- Proven budgeting and financial management experience, including building business cases and evaluating rewards and engagement economics.
- Exceptional stakeholder engagement skills with a track record of influencing senior leaders and cross‑functional teams.
- Strong presentation development and delivery skills; ability to create executive‑ready materials and tell compelling, data‑driven stories.
- Expertise in customer segmentation, lifecycle engagement, experimentation, and campaign measurement.
- Demonstrated ability to lead cross‑functional execution and manage multiple initiatives to deadlines with high attention to detail.
- Clear, concise, and persuasive communication skills, both written and verbal.
- High degree of ownership, accountability, and integrity with a focus on measurable outcomes.
Preferred Qualifications
- 8+ years in product, marketing strategy, or portfolio roles, ideally in cards, loyalty, or subscription businesses.
- Direct experience with credit card portfolios, rewards economics, retention levers, and customer value management.

Comfort with financial modeling and scenario analysis to optimize engagement and profitability trade‑offs.
