Credit Risk Middle Office - Senior Associate

Credit Risk Middle Office (CRMO) is a part of the Reporting, Middle Office and Controls organisation in the Corporate Risk Management function. The team supports the global Wholesale Credit Risk organisation with a primary focus on new client risk assessment and onboarding, exposure limit breach monitoring and client risk profile maintenance. The team is organised by line of business and regional portfolios covering fund managers across European countries, partnering closely with Credit Risk and operational teams.
As a Credit Risk Middle Office - Senior Associate in Securities Services (Custody) team, you will be responsible for both day-to-day asset management client onboarding and the strategic evolution of our onboarding and risk grading operating model. You will review new and existing funds seeking services from JPMorganChase, analyse their risk profiles, and establish appropriate credit lines to support both intraday and longer-term exposure, while advancing intelligent solutions, process improvements and controls.
Job Responsibilities
- Evaluate fund documentation (prospectuses, factsheets, pension fund financial accounts, actuarial reports, legal documents) to assess strategies, restrictions, structures, and overall risk profiles.
- Identify and escalate situations that may be indicative of alternative fund strategies to Credit Risk to allow appropriate trading limits and collateral terms to be set and monitored.
- Investigate and produce due diligence write-ups on new fund managers for approval by Credit Risk as eligible counterparties or clients of the firm.
- Partner with Securities Services Product, Solutions, and Client Services to balance client flexibility within the firm’s risk framework and deliver a smooth onboarding experience end to end.
- Enhance operating procedures to strengthen internal controls and improve operational efficiency, leveraging intelligent solutions such as Alteryx and Tableau where appropriate.
- Partner with the Wholesale Credit Risk Product group to deliver a multi‑year roadmap enhancing the operating model and systems used to onboard, risk grade, and maintain asset management clients over time.
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Knowledge of businesses and products offered by major financial institutions, especially in investment products and risk management.
- Ability to identify problems and collaborate with colleagues and management to develop solutions that improve outcomes and controls.
- Demonstrated experience leading initiatives that deliver measurable, positive results in a control or risk setting.
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Previous experience in risk management or another control function.
- Experience with automation and intelligent solutions such as Alteryx and Tableau.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred, or equivalent practical experience in a relevant risk, control, or operational discipline.
