Senior Associate, Data Risk Management & Governance

Make an impact by helping protect critical information assets and strengthening how we manage data risk! You’ll partner across teams to enhance governance and keep pace with evolving regulatory expectations.
In this role, you will support our data risk strategy by helping mature governance, reporting, and controls that protect information and enable responsible use of data. You will collaborate with leaders and cross-functional partners to operationalize our data risk framework and drive execution. You will communicate clearly, navigate complex requirements, and help ensure our approach stays current as technology and regulations evolve.
Job responsibilities
- Support execution of the data risk management strategy, aligning activities to business objectives, regulatory requirements, and firmwide priorities.
- Maintain and enhance the data risk governance framework, including procedures for data protection, privacy, retention, and storage.
- Assist in identifying, assessing, and mitigating data-related risks, including risks associated with data products and data usage practices.
- Maintain the inventory of data-related controls; partner with stakeholders to document controls for data access, transfer, storage, and use.
- Prepare reporting for management on data risk exposures, trends, remediation progress, and corrective actions.
- Develop and support training and communications that promote data responsibility and risk awareness across the department.
- Monitor and escalate emerging data risks (including risks related to AI, analytics, and new technologies) and support timely updates to the framework as requirements change.
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- 4+ years of experience in data risk management, data governance, or related roles within financial services.
- Experience updating policies and procedures for data use, quality, protection, retention, storage, and lifecycle management, including regulatory considerations.
- Demonstrated experience supporting data governance processes and management reporting.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to produce clear, professional work products.
- Strong problem-solving skills, including the ability to analyze complex issues and support practical solutions.

Proven ability to collaborate across functions and influence stakeholders at multiple levels.
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Experience in controls, risk management, compliance, or internal audit within financial services.
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Finance, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field.
