As a Data Architect Senior Associate on the Instrumentation and Metrics (I&M) team, you will serve as a data product business owner to help define and execute against a book of work and mutually agreed upon roadmaps for various data and analytics supporting the Payments business. This data drives efficiency and increase capacity for users while ultimately helping grow and protect revenue through previously untapped insights that help inform business decisions and strategy.
The Instrumentation and Metrics (I&M) team reports into the Corporate & Investment Bank (CIB) Payment Transformation organization and is aligned to J.P. Morgan Payments.
Job responsibilities
- Partner with Finance and business stakeholders to solve problems using strong business and data knowledge, disciplined analysis, and clear communication.
- Deliver fast-turnaround insights for initiatives, ad hoc requests, and urgent “fire drills,” while maintaining quality and transparency around assumptions and limitations.
- Own ambiguous, non-routine requests where requirements may be incomplete and the solution path is not obvious.
- Produce strong first-pass deliverables quickly (the “80% rule”) and iterate rapidly based on feedback and new information.
- Conduct deep-dive research into underlying data (definitions, trends, behaviors, code/flag logic, and compilation methods) to ensure accuracy and readiness for high-visibility work.
- Continuously reprioritize as business needs shift; manage time effectively to maintain throughput in a fast-paced environment.
- Operate within a shared analyst pool by supporting teammates when demand spikes and helping maintain consistent service levels across requests.
- Identify and drive improvements by enhancing, automating, simplifying, and strengthening processes and outputs; challenge the status quo constructively.
- Analytical rigor and attention to detail: validates findings, documents sources, and clearly communicates implications.

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills:
- End-to-end researcher: investigates problems methodically rather than relying on surface-level signals.

- Creative problem-solver: applies practical thinking and knows when the simplest explanation is most likely correct.
- Strong judgment and systems thinking: anticipates downstream impacts; communicates risks, dependencies, and tradeoffs early.
- Adaptable and resilient: adjusts quickly to changes in priorities, data, and tools.
- Experience in a Finance/Accounting environment.
- Intermediate SQL query-writing capability.
- Moderate to advanced Alteryx experience.
- Demonstrated knowledge of one or more BI/data concepts such as ETL, data modeling, reporting automation, and/or dashboarding.
- Strong communication, project management, and stakeholder partnership skills.
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills:

7+ years of experience in MIS, Business Intelligence, and/or Analytics roles.

Intermediate Excel proficiency (e.g., PivotTables, VLOOKUP or equivalent lookup functions).

Proven ability to deliver timely, high-quality analysis from diverse and complex data sources; strong attention to detail required.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
