As a Trade Finance Client Service Associate in our Global Banking team, you will be a trusted partner to your assigned portfolio of clients in Malaysia, You will serve as the main point of contact for trade finance inquiries, managing complex client needs across letters of credit, guarantees, documentary collections, and other trade products. You will work closely with sales, product, onboarding, and operations teams to deliver a seamless client experience and drive service improvements. This role offers a great opportunity to deepen your expertise in trade finance while building strong client relationships in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the main point of contact for your assigned client portfolio, handling inquiries, escalations, and complaints across trade finance and cash management products, including letters of credit, bank guarantees, documentary collections, and trade loans.
  • Build strong relationships with your clients by being proactive — identifying issues early, following up regularly, and recommending service improvements where needed.
  • Develop a deep understanding of each client's business, priorities, and operating model to provide tailored trade finance solutions and continuously add value.
  • Work with sales, product, onboarding, and operations teams to resolve client issues, improve processes, and enhance product offerings.
  • Run regular service reviews using data to track client activity, spot trends, and find opportunities to improve the trade finance experience.
  • Keep clients informed about regulatory changes, new trade finance products, and technology updates that may affect their operations.
  • Train and guide clients on trade finance processes, documentation requirements, and how to use our platforms effectively.
  • Investigate root causes of process issues and propose practical improvements to increase efficiency and reduce errors.
  • Maintain clear records of each client's trade finance activities, products, and interactions with the bank.
  • Identify and manage risks to protect both the firm and our clients, following all department policies and procedures.

Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, or a related field.
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in client service, trade finance operations
  • Good understanding of trade finance products such as letters of credit, bank guarantees, documentary collections, and trade loans.
  • Familiarity with trade finance documentation, compliance requirements, and international trade rules
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to use data to create reports, track performance, and support decision-making.
  • Good communication skills with the ability to articulate concepts/issues clearly
  • Able to build strong relationships and work well with clients, internal teams, and senior partners.
  • Able to manage multiple tasks, meet tight deadlines, and stay organized under pressure.
  • Detail-oriented with a strong sense of ownership and a focus on delivering results.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Demonstrated strong digital mindset with curiosity and comfort adopting new technologies and staying informed on emerging AI tools and trends, applying them responsibly to improve productivity, decision-making, automation, and customer/employee experiences while adhering to governance, risk, and data/privacy standards.

Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills

  • Familiarity with Asia-Pacific trade regulations and local market practices in Malaysia.
  • Experience running client service reviews and turning data insights into practical improvements.
  • Knowledge of anti-money laundering, sanctions screening, and know-your-customer requirements as they relate to trade finance transactions.
  • Experience in Cash/Treasury client servicing or operations is preferred.
