As a Credit Senior Officer within JPMorgan Private Bank, you will play a significant role in managing risk and supporting the US Regional (East) portfolio. Your responsibilities will include leading and managing the overall risk management process for select markets with an initial focus on the NY Families markets This primarily consists of analyzing credit risk and monitoring portfolio performance on an ongoing basis. Job responsibilities
- Assist in managing credit risk for Domestic Private Bank clients across assigned markets, ensuring alignment with established risk appetite and loss tolerances.
- Understand WM Credit Risk appetite on wholesale loans, mortgages and trading exposures (i.e. OTC derivatives, futures and options, securities trading)
- Approve credit risk exposures within authorized limits.
- Ensure accurate, timely, and consistent assignment of risk ratings for all clients, collateral, and relevant risk metrics across the portfolio.
- Appropriately manage and escalate risk exceptions within the portfolio as required.
- Identify and monitor concentrations, trends and emerging themes in the portfolio, and direct the preparation of Portfolio Reviews.
- Collaborate with the Underwriting team to support integrated credit decision-making, incorporating credit officer input.
- Partner with Business to credibly challenge opportunities and new initiatives, while promoting a culture of Risk discipline across the organization.
- Contribute to the enhancement of risk policies, underwriting guidelines, and procedures in collaboration with the Risk Policy team.
- Proactively identify and implement process improvements to enhance the efficiency of credit risk management and underwriting activities.
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar banking or credit role, with demonstrated expertise in managing large credit portfolios and structuring complex credit transactions.
- Strong communication and decision-making skills, with the ability to identify issues and propose effective solutions.
- Proven ability to operate independently and interact confidently with senior business stakeholders, building strong partnerships.
- Effective collaborator with the ability to influence and work across multiple teams.
- Strong understanding of market dynamics and economic drivers.
- Demonstrated thought leadership and ability to generate innovative solutions to address challenges and inefficiencies.
- Exceptional analytical skills, attention to detail, and capacity to learn complex processes impacting various functions within Credit Risk Management.
- Highly organized, self-motivated, and skilled in presentation, business writing, and communication.
