Job Description

Step into a pivotal role with the Commercial and Investment Banking (CIB) Lending Product Controllers team where your expertise will drive financial excellence and strategic innovation. The team is looking for a candidate that can leverage technology and AI adoption to help the Controller organization transform into a world where we must do things quicker, better, and faster, all while maintaining a focus on controls. This role is a perfect fit for someone with an accounting degree that thinks beyond debits and credits and seeks to understand how their role fits into the bigger picture.

You will learn about the Lending business, which is part of the Global Banking and Payments business within the Commercial and Investment Bank. The Lending businesses offers a variety of financing alternatives to larger corporations, financial institutions, start-ups, small and mi-sized companies, local governments, municipalities, and nonprofits, as well as commercial real estate clients. Products include, but are not limited to, term loans, revolving lines of credit, asset-based structures, leases, and standby letters of credit. This role will give you the chance to interact with a variety of stakeholders across the Lending business and the broader Finance and Business Management organization.

Job Responsibilities

  • Ensure integrity of the balance sheet and income statement for the business
  • Provide insightful analysis and commentary on the financials to the Global Banking Finance and Business Management organization as well as senior management
  • Partner with the Lending business to provide business advisory and accounting support
  • Continuously drive improvement and efficiencies in what we do leveraging automation and data analysis tools such as Alteryx, large language models (LLM), and Tableau
  • Produce ad hoc reporting and recurring deliverables to meet team and stakeholder needs
  • Ensuring compliance with accounting standards, corporate policies, legal entity controls, and regulatory requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
  • CPA or equivalent professional credential; or working towards
  • Demonstrated experience in leveraging automation and data analysis tools improve processes, reporting, and controls
  • Experience working with large data sets
  • At least 2 years of previous experience as a Controller or auditor at a large public accounting firm
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, including a strong control focus
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to develop strong working relationships
  • Schedule flexibility to meet deadlines and work flexible hours as required, including working certain weekends during quarter-end close
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, with advanced Excel and PowerPoint capabilities
  • Previous banking or other financial services industry experience
  • Knowledge of lending products

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
