As a Software Engineer III at JPMorganChase within Consumer and Community Banking – Wealth Plan team, you will help ensure our applications work as designed and meet customer needs by designing and executing robust test approaches and expanding automated test coverage. You’ll work closely with software engineers, product partners, and leaders to embed quality throughout the software delivery lifecycle, while receiving coaching, mentorship, and ongoing feedback to support your growth.
Job responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain automated test suites to validate functional and non-functional requirements
- Define and execute test strategies, including integration, regression, and end-to-end testing, aligned to delivery plans
- Create and maintain test data and test environments to support repeatable, reliable testing
- Identify, document, and track defects using standard defect management tools, ensuring clear reproduction steps and impact assessment
- Partner with software engineers and product partners to review requirements and clarify acceptance criteria to improve testability
- Participate in Agile ceremonies, contributing to sprint planning, estimation, and continuous improvement for quality practices
- Analyze test results and quality signals to recommend improvements to coverage, automation, and release readiness
- Contribute to and enhance existing test frameworks, utilities, and shared capabilities to improve team efficiency
- Support release validation activities and help ensure production readiness through effective quality controls
Required qualifications, capabilities and skills
- Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 3+ years applied experience
- Proven ability to write and maintain automated tests
- Experience using Core Java for test automation
- Experience using Selenium and Cucumber BDD for test automation
- Able to multi-task between functional test & automation test tasks
- Experience using an Integrated Development Environment (IDE), including IntelliJ
- Ability to read and understand JavaScript for test design, troubleshooting, or validation activities
- Experience working in Scrum-based delivery teams as well as advanced knowledge of software development lifecycles, including Agile, and test automation strategies
- Experience using Jira for work tracking, defects, and sprint execution
- Experience supporting sprint sign-on and release sign-off activities, including documenting test results and readiness indicators
- Detailed understanding of common defect management and data management tools
Preferred qualifications, capabilities and skills
- Experience building automation within continuous integration and continuous delivery pipelines
- Experience testing APIs and data flows across distributed systems
- Familiarity with performance, reliability, or resiliency testing approaches
- Experience improving test frameworks, coding standards, or shared testing utilities
- ADA Testing experience (preferred)
