As a Lead Infrastructure Engineer at JPMorganChase within the Infrastructure Platforms teams, you will be responsible for the strategic evaluation of network technologies and topologies, ensuring compliance with industry standards and organizational objectives. This role drives requirements for network planning tools, develops performance metrics, leads initiatives for improved performance and design optimization, builds business cases for these initiatives, supports audit, risk, and compliance activities, and collaborates with regional carriers to adopt the best product solutions.
Job responsibilities
- Lead technology and topology strategy by evaluating emerging and established network technologies and recommending solutions aligned to business, security, and resiliency needs.
- Design and standardize target network topologies (LAN/WAN/DC/Cloud connectivity) that optimize performance, scalability, availability, and operational supportability.
- Own requirements definition for network planning/management tools, translating business outcomes and technical constraints into clear epics, features, and acceptance criteria.
- Partner with software engineering teams to prioritize the tool roadmap, validate delivered functionality, and ensure fit-for-purpose planning workflows and UX for engineers.
- Drive automation and integration across planning, inventory, capacity, and change processes to reduce manual effort, improve data quality, and speed decision-making.
- Define and implement network performance metrics and KPIs, establishing measurement standards, thresholds, and reporting cadences across critical services and regions.
- Analyze performance and capacity data to identify trends, bottlenecks, and systemic issues; provide actionable insights and continuous improvement recommendations.
- Lead performance and design optimization initiatives, embedding best practices and innovations to improve efficiency, reliability, and end-to-end service quality.
- Build and present business cases (cost/benefit, risk reduction, ROI, and delivery approach) to secure funding and executive alignment for optimization programs.
- Ensure audit, risk, and compliance readiness by maintaining end-to-end documentation, supporting control testing and regulatory expectations, partnering with compliance, and coordinating with regional carriers/service providers to align standards, interoperability, and service performance.
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field.
- 5+ years of experience in network planning, infrastructure engineering, or related roles.
- Deep understanding of network technologies, topologies, and transport protocols.
- Experience interpreting and applying industry standards to network design.
- Demonstrated ability to define requirements for software tools and collaborate with development teams.
- Experience developing and implementing network performance metrics.
- Proven track record of driving performance improvement and design optimization initiatives.
- Experience developing business cases and presenting to leadership.
- Familiarity with audit, risk, and compliance processes and documentation.
- Experience collaborating with regional carriers or service providers on network solutions.
- Strong analytical, documentation, and communication skills.
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Experience with network automation and orchestration platforms.
- Familiarity with cloud and hybrid network architectures.
- Project management or requirements engineering certification is a plus.
