Are you ready to shape the future of regulatory reporting and data governance? Join our Firmwide Regulatory Reporting & Analysis team, where your curiosity and drive will help transform processes and strengthen controls. You’ll have the opportunity to lead impactful projects, collaborate with senior stakeholders, and grow your career in a dynamic, supportive environment. At JPMorganChase, we value innovation, teamwork, and your unique perspective—come make a difference with us.

As an External Reporting Controller – Projects & Data (Associate) within the Firmwide Regulatory Reporting & Analysis team, you will lead initiatives that strengthen the data and information governance operating model—embedding sustainable controls and improving data/information ownership and accountability. You will also help strengthen access governance by supporting clear role-based access, entitlement review processes, and appropriate oversight and evidence. You’ll partner closely with a wide range of stakeholders to take initiatives from idea to implementation, challenging the status quo and resolving issues with senior leaders. Alongside this project focus, you will also support external reporting deliverables to ensure ongoing accuracy and integrity. This role is a great fit for someone who’s naturally curious, ready to challenge “how it’s always been done,” and comfortable engaging with senior stakeholders to make things happen.

Job Responsibilities

  • Own initiatives end-to-end—define the problem, build a plan, align stakeholders, manage timelines, and deliver results.

  • Help build and roll out operating models and procedures for data/information-related work.

  • Identify process pain points and data/information issues, then design practical solutions in partnership with Technology and other teams.

  • Coordinate inputs across partners and teams to keep workstreams moving.

  • Support the control environment: execute key controls, maintain documentation, and help remediate findings.

  • Communicate progress, risks, and decisions in a clear way—especially when things get complicated or time-sensitive.

  • Contribute to the preparation and review of external reporting deliverables making sure they’re accurate and on time.

  • Help respond to audit/regulatory questions with solid support and straightforward explanations.

  • Keep procedures, templates, and playbooks up to date so the team can scale and execute consistently.

Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills

  • University degree in finance, accounting, or a business-related discipline, coupled with relevant experience within the financial services industry.

  • Solid understanding of financial reporting, plus a strong control mindset.

  • Demonstrated experience delivering initiatives/projects—you can organize work and drive it to completion.

  • Comfortable partnering with Technology teams.

  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail; able to spot issues and follow them through to resolution.

  • Self-starter who takes ownership and doesn’t wait to be told what to do.

  • Willing to challenge the status quo constructively and bring new ideas to the table.

  • Clear communicator (written and verbal), including with senior stakeholders.

  • Strong Excel skills and comfort working with large datasets—able to extract, reconcile, validate, and analyze data from multiple sources.

  • Fluency in English.

Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills

  • Experience with reporting platforms.

  • Hands-on involvement in process improvement.

  • Experience working in multicultural environments and communicating internationally across lines of business.

  • Experience supporting audits or regulatory exams.

  • Comfortable at mapping data flows/lineage and improving data quality controls.

  • Experience preparing concise, senior-ready updates (what’s done, what’s next, what’s at risk, what decisions are needed).
