Payments Sales Manager, Vice President – Nigeria

Job summary

As a Payments Sales Manager, Vice President – Nigeria in the Payments team, you will support sales origination and client coverage for strategic corporate clients across Nigeria and West Africa. You will build trusted relationships with client stakeholders and coordinate closely with internal partners to deliver solutions that meet client needs. You will apply commercial judgment to identify opportunities, manage risks, and help ensure a consistent client experience. You will use market and client insights to support growth, innovation, and continuous improvement

Based in Lagos, you will work as part of the Sub-Saharan Africa coverage team and collaborate with global and regional partners to deliver a comprehensive suite of payments products and services. You will help contextualize local market dynamics, risks, and opportunities for product and risk partners, enabling informed decision-making and effective execution. You will contribute to disciplined pipeline management and strong internal coordination to support client outcomes.

Job responsibilities

  • Support sales origination efforts for strategic clients across Nigeria and West Africa
  • Develop and maintain long-term relationships with key client stakeholders at multiple levels
  • Provide coverage of client operations locally and globally to support seamless service delivery
  • Communicate local market risks and opportunities to regional and offshore product and risk partners
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement tailored financial solutions that meet client needs
  • Analyze market trends and client data to identify opportunities for growth and innovation
  • Ensure compliance with firm policies and applicable industry regulations in all client interactions
  • Monitor and report sales performance metrics, providing insights and recommendations for improvement
  • Stay informed on industry developments and emerging trends to support competitive positioning
  • Manage resources effectively, monitor expenses, and identify opportunities to improve efficiency and profitability

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Corporate banking experience in Nigeria and/or West Africa, with a track record of developing client relationships and winning new business
  • Experience in cash management, sales, and relationship management
  • Knowledge and understanding of payments products and transactional banking solutions
  • Demonstrated ability to assess opportunities and engage key decision makers
  • Strong commercial judgment and influencing skills across cross-cultural and cross-functional environments
  • Strong partnership, planning, organizational, and prioritization skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Demonstrated analytical and quantitative skills with strong attention to detail
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across coverage, product, risk, operations, and implementation teams
  • Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required
  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent)

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Fluency in French
  • Experience supporting multinational corporate clients with complex, multi-country operating models
  • Experience using data and performance metrics to improve pipeline discipline and client outcomes

This role is based in Lagos and supports client coverage across Nigeria and West Africa.
