As a Senior Manager of Software Engineering at JPMorganChase within the Consumer & Community Banking, you serve in a leadership role by providing technical coaching and advisory for multiple technical teams, as well as anticipate the needs and potential dependencies of other functions within the firm. As an expert in your field, your insights influence budget and technical considerations to advance operational efficiencies and functionalities.

Job Responsibilities

  • Designs, develops, and maintains full stack solutions

  • Sets and scales operating practices for enterprise-authorized AI-assisted engineering and SDLC/TLM automation across multiple teams to improve delivery speed, quality, and operational outcomes; establishes measurable expectations (e.g., throughput, defect reduction, reliability) and ensures consistent validation, security, resiliency, and reuse of proven patterns.

  • Applies knowledge of tools within the Software Development Life Cycle toolchain, including enterprise-authorized AI-assisted development and automation capabilities, to drive efficiency and support capacity unlock initiatives across teams, prioritizing reuse of existing firm technology assets.

  • Builds secure, high-performing APIs and integrations; contribute to service reliability, resiliency, and performance tuning.

  • Collaborates daily with Product, Design, and Data & Analytics to refine requirements, estimate work, and deliver iteratively using Agile practices.

  • Writes clean, maintainable code with strong unit/integration test coverage; participate in code reviews and design discussions.

  • Supports and improve CI/CD pipelines and engineering automation; champion best practices in quality and developer productivity.

  • Contributes to production support: troubleshooting, incident triage, root-cause analysis, and preventative improvements.

  • Participates in application, data, and infrastructure architecture conversations and help evolve platform standards.

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • 10+ years of hands-on software engineering experience delivering production applications, with a strong focus on backend and UI development.

  • 10+ years of team management experience.

  • Proficiency with modern UI frameworks such as Angular or React (to effectively partner on end-to-end delivery).

  • Proficiency in Java and Spring Boot, including building and operating REST APIs and microservices.

  • Experience with modern Agile delivery practices (Scrum/Kanban), CI/CD, and DevOps-aligned development (automated quality gates, release pipelines).

  • Experience with cloud and/or container platforms (e.g., AWS or Cloud Foundry, Docker/Kubernetes).

  • Working experience with databases: Oracle and/or NoSQL datastores such as Cassandra or MongoDB (data modeling, query performance, reliability).

  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal) while working with cross-functional partners.

  • Experience leading multi-team adoption of enterprise-authorized AI-assisted development and delivery tools, including defining governance/ways of working (human-in-the-loop validation, quality gates), measuring outcomes, and ensuring secure handling of sensitive inputs/outputs.

  • Strong understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity considerations, resiliency/security implications, and control expectations; ability to coach managers/leads and influence leaders on safe scaling patterns.

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Experience with automated functional testing tools such as Cucumber or equivalent (TDD is a plus).

  • Experience using Agile tools such as JIRA.

  • Experience with observability tooling (metrics, logs, traces) and production readiness practices.

  • Experience with UAT and/or accessibility testing.
