Campbell Global, a subsidiary of J.P. Morgan, is a global investment manager specializing in forestland. Based in Portland, Oregon, Campbell Global manages timberland assets and supports acquisition and disposition activity across U.S. and international regions.

As a VP, Biometrics, you will provide leadership, guidance, analysis, and technical oversight for forest mensuration, growth & yield modeling, timber and carbon inventory systems, and carbon-focused measurement and accounting across timberland investment regions. This role sits within the Resource & Valuation Solutions (RVS) team and reports to the Executive Director, Forest Resource Solutions.

Job Responsibilities

• Participate in setting direction and protocols for forest inventory data collection and inventory modeling; ensure inventory systems and measurements provide accurate information for operational and investment decision-making.

• Lead maintenance and enhancement of growth & yield models for use in inventory updates, harvest planning, carbon strategy, and operational planning.

• Participate in the company’s carbon accounting initiatives and support annual reporting requirements.

• Support carbon project development, monitoring and verification; provide technical oversight and internal project leadership for carbon project inventory data collection, monitoring, and reporting.

• Provide leadership in the development of remotely sensed inventory models and support the application of remote sensing in inventory systems where relevant.

• Support acquisition initiatives through inventory verification design, review/processing of seller-provided inventory data, due diligence participation, and decision support across U.S. and international regions and transaction types.

• Represent the company in silviculture, tree-improvement, modeling, and other research co-ops; partner with operations staff to transfer research into practice.

• Respond to internal/external information requests and ensure timberland management investment services are met in a timely and professional manner.

Required qualifications, capabilities and skills

• MS degree in Forestry with a concentration in biometrics or statistics and 3+ years related experience, or equivalent combination of education/training/experience.

• Strong research and analytical skills; excellent written and verbal communication; strong interpersonal skills; ability to collaborate across disciplines and locations.

• Working knowledge of forest inventory techniques and/or growth modeling/projection techniques used in the forest industry.

• Experience with GIS and relational databases for querying, analysis, and reporting.

• Programming capability in a structured language (e.g., R preferred, Python).

Preferred qualifications, capabilities and skills

• Demonstrated background in carbon-focused measurements and accounting methods.

• Experience with remote sensing applications in forest inventory systems.

• Familiarity with voluntary and compliance forest carbon offset protocols in the U.S. and internationally.
