As a Senior Fund Accounting Associate within Investor Services, you will take senior responsibility for the end-to-end management of daily fund accounting operations across multiple clients, with full accountability for deliverables in line with service level agreements. Clients include large superannuation funds and investment management unit trusts across Australia, New Zealand, and Asia-Pacific. This role requires a seasoned professional who can operate independently, manage complexity, and drive continuous improvement.
Job responsibilities
- Take senior ownership of client relationships, including query resolution, service reviews, and ensuring all deliverables are consistently met on time and to a high standard.
- Maintain and enforce documentation standards, including standard operating procedures and client-specific checklists, ensuring team-wide compliance.
- Lead process improvement and system development initiatives, proactively identifying bottlenecks and driving efficiency gains.
- Liaise with relationship managers, client service managers, and upstream and downstream teams to resolve issues and uphold service quality.
- Oversee the risk and control framework, escalating issues promptly and maintaining strong risk discipline across the team.
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Mathematics, Economics, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in fund operations, unit trust pricing, or fund accounting, with demonstrated seniority and team leadership.
- Strong knowledge of domestic and international financial markets and instruments.
- Strong systems knowledge of HiPortfolio, Investone, or equivalent asset management and custody systems.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
- Proven ability to manage complex client relationships, lead a team, and maintain a strong risk and control mindset.
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Completion of or currently studying towards a Chartered Accountant, Certified Practising Accountant, Chartered Financial Analyst, or Master of Applied Finance qualification.
- Experience with superannuation funds or investment management unit trusts in Australia or Asia-Pacific.
- Experience leading process improvement initiatives in a fund operations environment.
