Global Research - Senior US Rates Strategist - Executive Director

JPMorganChase’s US Rates Strategy team within CIB Global Research delivers actionable trade ideas and thought leadership across US Treasuries (cash and derivatives), TIPS, Agency/SSA, and U.S. money markets (including bills and repo). As an Executive Director-level strategist in New York City, you will help lead the content agenda, deepen senior client engagement, and partner closely with Sales & Trading and cross-asset research teams. This front-office, client-facing role is fast-paced and intellectually demanding, requiring strong analytical judgment, exceptional writing and communication skills, and comfort engaging senior stakeholders and sophisticated institutional clients, with significant travel for client meetings and conferences.
Job responsibilities
- Lead and author flagship research, timely market commentary, and thematic deep-dives across UST cash, bills, repo, and broader money markets.
- Develop and communicate actionable strategy frameworks (e.g., relative value, curve, carry/roll, term premium, front-end/plumbing, funding/collateral), including key risks.
- Partner with US Economics and cross-asset strategy teams to formulate, stress-test, refine, and clearly articulate forecasts and views.
- Engage actively with Sales & Trading to incorporate real-time market color/flows and support client dialogue in fast-moving markets.
- Build and own analytical frameworks, indicators, models, and datasets to drive differentiated insights (including money-market plumbing and funding conditions).
- Build senior institutional client mindshare through high-quality written work, podcasts/webinars, and in-person client meetings; represent the firm externally as appropriate.
- Mentor and develop junior strategists/analysts, setting standards for research quality and timeliness and contributing to the team’s strategic agenda.
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Significant markets experience in US rates and money markets (UST cash, bills, repo, CP/CD).
- Demonstrated thought leadership via market-relevant publications and differentiated views for sophisticated audiences.
- Excellent quantitative and analytical skills, including experience building and maintaining market models and datasets.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; ability to explain complex topics succinctly to senior clients and internal stakeholders.
- Proven ability to collaborate across functions (Economics, cross-asset strategy, Sales & Trading) and operate effectively under time pressure.
- Comfort working with large datasets using Excel, Python, JPMorganChase AI tooling, and market data platforms (e.g., Bloomberg).
- Ability and willingness to travel significantly.
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Familiarity with swaps, futures, OIS, and rates volatility products/markets.
- Expertise in rates market structure and “rates plumbing,” including funding and collateral dynamics.
- Experience presenting externally (e.g., conferences, media, panels) with strong executive presence.
- Track record of people leadership through mentoring and team development in a research environment.
