Job summary

As a Fund Accounting Team Leader in the Fund Accounting Operations team, you will oversee the daily production and validation of fund accounting deliverables, including the Net Asset Value (NAV). You will ensure accurate accounting and securities records by enforcing controls across reconciliation, pricing, trade capture, and income and expense processing. You will investigate exceptions that breach validation tolerances, drive timely resolution, and escalate issues when needed. You will also document procedures, identify control enhancements, and support training and development of new team members. You will partner closely with supervisors and stakeholders to deliver consistent, high-quality service to clients.

Job responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate accounting and securities records for assigned portfolios by following defined control procedures
  • Produce and validate daily NAVs, ensuring timeliness, quality checks, and appropriate escalation when issues arise
  • Reconcile positions and transactions by researching differences across accounting and custody data sources
  • Validate asset pricing and investigate significant movements using benchmarks and peer/sector comparisons
  • Process and review security trading activity, income, and expenses to ensure accurate period valuations
  • Investigate validation breaks and resolve exceptions that exceed tolerance thresholds
  • Prepare and complete portfolio support files in line with internal control checklists and sign-off requirements
  • Document unusual items with clear supporting evidence (for example, past-due dividends, large price movements, or significant gains and losses)
  • Analyze fund performance and valuation outputs to confirm accuracy and completeness before finalization
  • Identify opportunities for additional controls and contribute to procedure documentation and process improvements
  • Train and support new hires and provide day-to-day guidance to promote consistent execution and quality

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in accounting, finance, economics, or a related discipline
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and commitment to accurate, well-controlled processing
  • Ability to work effectively in a deadline-driven production environment
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including root-cause investigation of breaks
  • Ability to follow procedures, apply controls consistently, and maintain complete documentation
  • Proficiency with computers and standard business applications (for example, spreadsheets and email)
  • Strong written and spoken English communication skills
  • Client-focused mindset and service orientation
  • Initiative to ask questions, challenge discrepancies, and escalate issues appropriately
  • Ability to work effectively within a small team environment

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Experience in banking, financial services, asset servicing, or an accounting firm environment
  • Experience in an automated or high-volume processing environment
  • Knowledge of common security types and their accounting treatment
  • Familiarity with market data platforms (for example, Bloomberg)
  • Understanding of how a fund’s custodian bank and investment manager operate and interact
  • Demonstrated flexibility to support peak production periods and department projects
  • Experience coaching or training new team members
