As a Sr. Data Governance Associate in the Risk Management and Compliance Chief Data Office team, you will be part of a team responsible to oversee and govern Data Risk Management framework which proactively identifies and monitors emerging and existing risks, establishes and maintains effective controls and governance to mitigate data risks arising from inappropriate, incorrect or unauthorized provision/ consumption, classification, storage, retention and disposal of data. You will also support delivery of Risk Management and Compliance Chief Data Office mandates related to the Data Risk Management Policy and Standard, assist in implementation of Chief Data Office strategy and partner with various stakeholders across the firm to build data governance capabilities.

Job Responsibilities :

  • Manage implementation of data governance policies and monitor compliance with established data policies and standards
  • Foster strong partnerships with global stakeholders across Business, Technology, Control Management, Firmwide functions, and Chief Data Office partners; serve as a point of contact for governance and remediation topics
  • Govern and manage end-to-end remediation of data quality issues, ensuring timely resolution through effective prioritization, dependency management, escalation, and stakeholder alignment
  • Coordinate with stakeholders to define remediation actions, drive execution to meet SLAs, track progress to closure, and proactively surface risks/blockers with proposed options
  • Lead data quality initiatives and projects, driving end-to-end delivery and stakeholder alignment
  • Demonstrate strong understanding of metadata management, standardized data definitions, and governance processes that support consistency and traceability;
  • Coordinates with Data Owners to define/validate business definitions for data elements, data lineage and maintain metadata for data elements
  • Strong understanding of BCBS 239 principles and their application in global banks
  • Produce and analyze metrics; coordinate management meetings end-to-end (agenda, materials, minutes, follow-ups) and track decisions/actions through completion
  • Manage and mitigate data risks across storage, use, retention, and destruction in accordance with firm policy and applicable regulations
  • Deliver training and enablement on tools and processes to key stakeholders and business partners;

Required qualifications, capabilities and skills:

  • Minimum 6 years of experience working in a bank/financial institution within Data Governance, Data Management, Project/Program Management, Finance, Risk Controller, Internal/External Reporting, or Business Analysis
  • Effective analytical, problem solving, and decision-making skills
  • Ability to coordinate issues/findings/practices with colleagues across regions and/or divisions; strong dependency and escalation management
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills with proficiency in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Hands-on experience with BI tools such as QlikView, Alteryx, and Tableau, with an ability to apply AI effectively

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, or related disciplines highly recommended
  • Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP) preferred
