As the Business Manager (Chief of Staff) within the Chief Administrative Office in Home Lending, you will establish the business management function for the Home Lending Chief Administrative Office and partner with the CAO to promote operational excellence, lead key initiatives and shape our team’s engagement, culture and narrative. You will connect strategy to execution, align cross-functional priorities, maintain cross departmental relationships to ensure the business runs efficiently, strategically, and ensure our team operates with clarity, consistency and accountability. Your work will directly influence the direction, performance, and culture of Home Lending at scale.
The Business Manager needs to have robust business and functional acumen. You must understand how the business works, the strategy, the vision and how all the functions across the organization come together to achieve those goals.
Job responsibilities
- Establish and the lead the business management function for Home Lending’s CAO organization, including strategic planning, operational governance, financial oversight, executive reporting and employee engagement
- Translate organization strategy into actionable priorities, programs and operational plans. Thrive in ambiguity by translating vision into actions and proactively position the team for success
- Serve as the CAO’s right hand – trusted advisor and thought leader with data driven recommendations to make decisions, drive outcomes, shape messaging and represent priorities at all levels. Communicate with precision and impact, commanding credibility with senior leaders and all team members
- Direct cross-functional initiatives that shape how the business operates, identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, streamline processes, reduce risk, and enhance performance
- Develop effective presentations, narratives and messaging to tell the story of the work we are doing, our impact, results and influence decisions, actions, behavior and business outcomes. Make every presentation, report or update impossible to ignore
- Communicate business performance, risks, and strategic updates to senior management through multiple channels, ensuring transparency and alignment across the organization
- Manage and monitor overall business health, including capacity planning, headcount, budget, domestic and international resource allocation across the CAO organization
- Foster an environment where risk and control issues are escalated, trends are identified, and policies and procedures are maintained and updated regularly
- Set a tone of excellence, urgency, integrity and optimization across teams – embody curiosity, resilience and a commitment to continuous improvement
- Mobilize resources across organizational boundaries to solve issues productively and pursue cross-functional opportunities that improve the overall business, employee and customer experience
- Partner across Home Lending to drive actions and plans to build and sustain a high performance culture across all lines of business
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- 10+ years in management consulting, strategy or operational leadership in financial services
- Experience influencing outcomes, driving change and delivering results in complex environments
- Exceptional problem solving, communication and stakeholder management skills
- Demonstrated experience leading business management, chief of staff, or operational leadership functions within a large, matrixed financial services organization
- Strong executive communication and influencing skills, with the ability to present complex business strategies and recommendations clearly to senior and executive audiences
- Deep knowledge of business process, financial management, and operational risk and controls, with the ability to drive a risk and compliance agenda
- Ability to develop and articulate well-structured business cases, including financial and bottom-line impact analysis
- Experience managing budgets, headcount, and resource planning across multi-disciplinary teams
- Demonstrated ability to anticipate and resolve complex, multi-variable business challenges with sound judgment and a sense of urgency
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Experience within mortgage, home lending, or consumer banking operations at a senior leadership level
- Familiarity with workforce agility, AI-enabled operations, or business transformation programs
- Track record of operating as a subject matter expert and trusted partner to C-suite or executive-level leaders
- Experience contributing to or driving the strategic direction of a department or business unit
- Advanced proficiency in Excel and Power Point
- Advanced degree in Business Administration, Finance, Operations Management, or a related field
