As a Financial reporting and tax team lead in the Financial Reporting and Tax team, you will oversee the timely, accurate preparation and review of portfolio-level accounting and tax deliverables to support client and regulatory requirements. You will coordinate with offshore/onshore stakeholders to resolve dependencies, maintain clear documentation of client nuances, and continuously improve team processes. You will also develop team capability through coaching, training, and knowledge-sharing.

Job responsibilities

  • Review reconciled trial balances, financial statements, and supporting workpapers to ensure completeness and accuracy
  • Support preparers by providing guidance on processes and deliverable requirements, including audit packs and tax reporting schedules
  • Perform quality checks on deliverables prepared by team members, including financial statements, taxable income calculations, and indirect tax filings (for example, business activity statements)
  • Manage deliverable timelines across daily, monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, and annual cycles to meet client and third-party deadlines
  • Prepare deliverables during capacity constraints to maintain service continuity and deadline adherence
  • Coordinate with Australia-based financial reporting and tax stakeholders via email and phone to resolve dependencies and clarify issues
  • Ensure team responses to stakeholder queries are timely, accurate, and well-documented
  • Maintain and update standard operating procedures, ensuring periodic review and recertification by the relevant approving group
  • Lead knowledge-sharing and continuous learning activities to improve quality and reduce errors in deliverables
  • Train and mentor new team members and provide ongoing coaching through regular one-on-one sessions
  • Drive process enhancement and productivity initiatives, including participation in or leadership of team committees/governance forums

Required qualifications, capabilities and skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field, or a recognized accounting qualification (for example, Chartered Accountant or Certified Public Accountant)
  • At least 3 years of experience in financial reporting, tax, or audit
  • Experience preparing or reviewing reconciled trial balances and financial statements
  • Understanding of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and core financial reporting principles
  • Experience preparing or reviewing taxable income calculations for distribution purposes
  • Experience supporting annual tax return preparation and indirect tax filings (for example, business activity statements)
  • Demonstrated ability to review the work of others and provide clear, actionable feedback
  • Demonstrated leadership capability through mentoring, training, or leading initiatives/projects
  • Advanced analytical skills with strong attention to detail
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and stakeholder expectations

Preferred qualifications, capabilities and skills

  • Experience in the fund management industry in an accounting or tax role
  • Experience coordinating deliverables reviewed by external auditors or tax agents
  • Active professional license/registration where applicable (preferred but not required)
