Overview
Kimley-Horn is seeking an experienced Multimodal Transportation Planner to join our growing team in Salt Lake City. This role focuses on planning and designing active transportation systems, including bicycle and pedestrian networks, trails, and multimodal infrastructure that supports sustainable mobility and Complete Streets principles.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage multimodal transportation planning projects from concept through implementation.
- Develop plans for active transportation networks, including bikeways, pedestrian facilities, and trail systems.
- Conduct feasibility studies, corridor analyses, and safety assessments for non-motorized transportation.
- Collaborate with municipalities, MPOs, and state agencies on policy development and infrastructure planning.
- Prepare technical reports, presentations, and public engagement materials.
- Mentor junior staff and contribute to business development efforts.
Qualifications
- Education: Master’s degree in Urban Planning, Transportation Planning, Landscape Architecture, Civil Engineering, or related field.
- Experience: Minimum 8+ years of professional experience in transportation planning, with a focus on multimodal or active transportation projects.
- Strong knowledge of Complete Streets, Vision Zero, and active transportation design standards.
- Proficiency in GIS, travel demand modeling, and data visualization tools.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and lead client interactions.
