With over 40 years of semiconductor process control experience, chipmakers around the globe rely on KLA to ensure that their fabs ramp next-generation devices to volume production quickly and cost-effectively. Enabling the movement towards advanced chip design through greater chemical process control is KLA's ECI Technology division.
ECI is an industry leader of in-process chemistry control, providing the precision of analysis the industry requires for consistent wafer quality while reducing chip feature size. Advanced wafer design drives the need for precision with reliability; ECI strives to lead the design of analytical equipment which can withstand the rigorous demands of the chemical processes for damascene, wafer-level packaging, clean and wet etch processes, with our Prima, Libra, Quanta and QualiSurf product lines.
Successful Mechanical Design Engineer will work in the Mechanical Department of KLA ECI division based in Totowa, NJ.
Will be responsible for the complete design process of new systems, including requirements specification, feasibility studies, cost and scheduling, conceptual and detailed design using CAD systems (Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD), detailed drawings, design review presentations, procurement of prototype parts, system integration, prototype testing, and handoff to manufacturing. These tasks will require working with other ECI groups such as EE, OPS, Service, and manufacturing engineers to ensure flawless integration and test at the subsystem and system level. Develops the required supporting documentation, such as assembly and test procedures, and service manuals. resolves product issues through the product phases. Has strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Design mechanical part of new chemical monitoring or management systems, modules, assemblies, or parts. Work with mechanical, electrical and software engineering groups and R&D to define and review designs and test plans.
Accountable for complete design process: requirements, design, BOM structure, flow diagram, electrical component integration, sub-assemblies, and detail drawings, Facility requirements.
Create COs to release new parts, assemblies, systems and supporting documentation.
Optimize engineering design for manufacturability and standardization of the mechanical sections for ECI’s chemical monitoring analyzers and systems.
Able to setup and drive team efforts to address product-level issues (such as design issues, supplier issues, MFG escalations, or improvement projects)
As a senior team member, mentor new team members and lead the team as needed.
Preferred qualifications
Experience in design or related study in microfluidic systems and dispensing, material science, spectrophotometry or fiber-optics, mechanical/electrical engineering, physics, or related disciplines are desired.
Proven track record demonstrating strong background in engineering (or the physical science), analysis and problem-solving skills.
Must have a good understanding of Mechanical, Fiber-optic, Fluidic, and Electromechanical and Software and Control systems and their interactions in the context of complex industrial equipment.
Experience in Inventor 3D CAD and AutoCAD software is strongly preferred.
Excellent interpersonal skills to ensure effective collaboration with other team members.
Ability to multi-task different projects, work independently and focus on details is essential for success.
Develop detailed plans and schedules for the engineering development and communicate to senior management.
Enjoy working with fast paced environment with aggressive timelines.
Minimum Qualifications
Doctorate (Academic) Degree and related work experience of 3 years OR
Master's Level Degree and related work experience of 6 years OR
Bachelor's Level Degree and related work experience of 8 years
