Position Details:
The Business Development & Strategy Manager (Special Situations) leads business strategy formulation and drives execution, product development, and business development for a team of lawyers focused on high profile civil litigation. This role involves close collaboration with the Founding Partners, Chief Strategy Officer, Partners and other members of firm-wide leadership.

Reporting to: Managing Director of Global Products
Responsibilities:
- Strategic Planning & Execution: Lead the development and implementation of business development plans, partnering with lawyers to drive initiatives aligned with the firm’s strategic objectives.
- Client & Market Intelligence: Proactively identify market developments, industry trends, and competitive insights to pursue opportunities for new business.
- Stakeholder Preparation: Craft key messaging for firm leaders and attorneys ahead business development meetings with potential clients and referral sources.
- Performance Analytics: Synthesize business development data and analyze key metrics to measure and refine revenue and profit-generating initiatives.
- Competitive Research & Analysis: Conduct due diligence on referral sources and prospective clients to assess their strategic and legal needs.
- Project Management: Oversee the execution of firmwide strategic initiatives, ensuring the development of action plans, timely follow-ups, and adherence to deadlines.
- Collaboration & Thought Leadership: Work closely with Marketing & Communications to develop thought leadership content, manage public relations, and enhance media outreach efforts.
- Knowledge Sharing & Training: Collaborate with Knowledge Management & Learning teams to facilitate product-specific training and promote firmwide knowledge capture.
- Relationship Development: Identify and coordinate outbound referral opportunities to strengthen market relationships and expand the firm’s network.
- Global Coordination: Organize international business trips and collaborate with global colleagues to align strategies with firm-wide objectives.
Requirements:
- Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree required, with 3-5+ years of experience in a professional services organization or similar. Experience or familiarity with high-stakes commercial litigation and financial disputes—such as M&A, restructuring, insolvency and securitizations, among other topics—is a plus.
- Time Management & Prioritization: Ability to navigate and manage competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high-quality execution.
- Intellectual Curiosity: Proactive in asking questions, seeking insights, and developing subject-matter expertise.
- Operational Excellence: Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills; exceptional attention to detail; ability to anticipate needs and follow through effectively.
- Relationship Management: Commitment to cultivating relationships across the firm with professionalism, diplomacy, and discretion.
- Collaboration: Thrive in a team-oriented environment across multiple time zones, cultures, and levels of seniority.
- Analytical & Data-Driven Mindset: Experience with data analysis and visualization tools is a plus.
- Flexibility: Willingness to work additional hours as needed and support broader Strategy team initiatives; occasional travel may be required.
Company Description
At the time of posting, the salary range for this role is $80,000 (minimum) – $110,000 (maximum). This range is based on a full-time work schedule. Other compensation may include an annual discretionary bonus. The successful candidate’s actual salary will be determined based on permissible, non-discriminatory factors, including but not limited to relevant experience, qualifications, licensure/certifications, training, skills, and market data.
