TEAM OVERVIEW
Finance supports the strategic direction of the Firm by ensuring efficient and effective financial planning, analysis, budgeting, reporting, compliance, accounting, and stewardship of financial risks and controls. By doing so, we produce accurate financial information for decision making, ensure compliance with financial regulations and policies, and provide leadership for operational improvements, cost savings and strategic investments that align with the Firm’s culture and long-term goals.
POSITION SUMMARY
KKR is seeking an operations accountant to join its Portfolio Accounting team within KKR Credit division in Gurugram. The Portfolio Accounting team supports the accounting, reconciliation, and valuation process of credit portfolio assets, working closely with fund administrators, operations teams, and controllership functions. The candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate investment records, calculating performance metrics, reconciling holdings, and preparing reports for clients, management, and regulatory bodies.
ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Operational Excellence
- Maintain and reconcile investment records and transactions across multiple funds and asset classes
- Calculate and report investment returns and portfolio performance metrics, including Track Records with MOM and IRR calculations
- Prepare reports for clients, management, and regulatory bodies with accuracy and timeliness
- Complete and maintain custom asset-level reporting at regular intervals, including loan modifications, asset exits, and watch list reporting
- Reconcile investment holdings on a monthly/Quarterly basis for various funds between KKR and third-party fund administrators
Stakeholder Management
- Coordinate with internal teams including PMU, operations, fund controllership, and audit to ensure efficient portfolio management
- Participate in weekly group meetings, present/escalate issues as necessary, provide updates on existing workflows, and suggest ideas for process improvements and efficiencies
- Communicate effectively with fund administrators and external service providers to resolve discrepancies
Reporting & Governance
- Perform analysis and reporting for asset accrual functions, ensuring assets are behaving as expected and proper treatment for non-accrual/non-amortization/PIK assets
- Work with operations teams to update and maintain proper accounting treatment in subledger systems
- Complete holdings reconciliations between several KKR data sources (subledger and data warehouse), ensuring internal reporting provides a complete and accurate picture of holdings and pricing
- Communicate effectively with fund administrators and external service providers to resolve discrepancies
- Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes
QUALIFICATIONS
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in finance or equivalent with 1-3 years of relevant experience
- Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, and fund accounting
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (advanced formulas, pivot tables, data analysis)
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data management
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills Preferred
- Experience with fund accounting systems (Geneva or similar platforms)
- Familiarity with Bloomberg terminals and financial data sources
- Knowledge of private equity, credit, or alternative investment structures
- Experience with reconciliations and financial controls
- Understanding of investment performance calculations (IRR, MOM, TWR)
- Exposure to VBA, SQL, or other automation tools
- Familiarity with AI
