KPMG is currently seeking a Manager, Engagement Management to join our Finance & Accounting organization.

Responsibilities:

  • Apply a thorough understanding of Engagement Management principles to provide EMC support to assigned Risk Management leaders, engagement partners, and managing directors including client and engagement setup, maintenance, billing, collections, reporting, and engagement closeout
  • Serve as the business unit(s) key subject matter resource in the firm's engagement accounting and risk management systems, including SYNC and Client/Engagement Acceptance and Set-up (CLEAS) providing technical support and expertise for engagement information management procedures and interface; identify best practices related to the engagement accounting process, surface issues, recommend alternatives consistent with firmwide engagement accounting and risk management policies and procedures
  • Act as liaison between local Business Unit Professional Practice Partner and EMCs to ensure compliance with firm's client/project setup process and risk management policies and procedures and ensure EMC team members understand and apply F&A policies and procedures
  • Overseeing work product a possibility, managing deadlines, expectations, and often contributing to staffing decisions and supervising the work performed by more junior staff; provide feedback to such individuals and may also serve as a formal performance manager of record to junior employees; assist other members of the F&A department as required
  • Participate as a member of the local area EMC leadership team as well as a member of the firmwide EMC Steering Committee and contribute to design and implementation of new initiatives, special projects and strategies which may have national focus; liaise with EXL to ensure onsite and offshore teams are working cohesively
  • Work with financial analysts and EMCs to develop and monitor partner and client profitability, receivables, unbilled, expenses and other key metrics to help business leaders understand issues in financial results; assist leaders in developing action plans for improvement; participate in and facilitate ongoing system enhancements and training

Qualifications:

  • Minimum five years of recent related work experience, preferably within a professional services firm or in project or financial management
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or business from an accredited college or university, or equivalent experience
  • Advanced skill level in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; knowledge of financial and accounting applications and experience in SAP preferred
  • Strong analytical skills, detail-oriented, and able to work on multiple concurrent assignments; with ability to effectively interact with individuals at all levels of responsibility and authority; excellent communication (oral and written), listening, influencing, interpersonal, and presentation skills
  • Proficient in employing tactical approaches to resolving complex challenges by exercising critical thinking/problem solving skills, with ability to expound upon the key performance indicators, with a strong business acumen
  • Ability to manage change and effectively communicate to teams; and to delegate and allocate responsibilities efficiently to manage projects end to end; possess effective leadership skills, operating with strong values, ethics, and integrity with the ability to lead and collaborate with virtual or in-person resources

California Salary Range: $87800 - $185000
