Our Policy, Economics and Public Impact (PEPI) practice provides strategic advice on policy, structural and governance reform. Our team bring together a diverse and multidisciplinary team working across multiple sectors, Education, Health Ageing and Human Services, National Security and Justice, Transport and Infrastructure, Defence and Defence Industries, Environment, Indigenous Affairs, and Central Agencies.

We are looking for an exceptional Associate Director to join our PEPI team in Melbourne, Sydney, Canberra, Brisbane or Perth. The PEPI team within KPMG is a highly experienced and motivated team that has been involved in some of Australia's largest and most complex reform programs.

We are a team-based practice, and this extends to our clients whom we work and collaborate with to solve complex problems. Our goal is to provide our clients with the full suite of capabilities required to modernise and transform service systems and drive the best policy and service delivery outcomes for all Australians. No other firm combines the data, methods, and practical experience in services delivery with the broad, global transformation capabilities that KPMG brings to its clients.

Your Opportunity

  • Assist clients with a broad range of interesting and dynamic projects across public policy, including system and service strategy and planning, strategic policy reform, service performance improvement, programme review and evaluation, commissioning, and systems transformation.
  • Develop and foster Client Relationships - Work directly with clients and alongside a diverse range of professionals to understand client challenges and build trust.
  • Undertake business development and other market facing activities that contribute to growing our business. This will include leading teams that produce winning proposals via RFP, RFT and RFQ processes.
  • Manage concurrent projects & teams to conceptualise, scope and structure engagements, ability to synthesise and analyse findings – and presenting them in clear and compelling ways – prepare reports and presentations at various points in a project.

  • Demonstrated experience across one or more of the following areas; Education, Health Ageing and Human Services, National Security and Justice, Transport and Infrastructure, Defence and Defence Industries, Environment, Indigenous Affairs, and Central Agencies, strategic policy, evaluation and programme review, commissioning and system transformation. You will need a strong interest in and commitment to continuing to develop your skills in these areas.
  • Demonstrated experience in management consulting, or in program and project management or policy development, with a track record of successful delivery and client service (desirable but not essential).
  • Strong communication skills, with experience in writing for government, and demonstrated stakeholder engagement and management experience.
  • Strong interest in leading and building teams, with experience in management and leadership roles.
  • Willingness to work with a national team to continue to build our practice, using your passion to build service offerings that lead to the betterment of lives for all Australians.
  • You will possess a degree or higher qualifications and have professional experience working in a similar role.
