Job Description

Our Connected Technology Group (CTG) defines and drives the digital, data and technology strategy for KPMG. We have an important advocacy role for technology in the market and across KPMG, working with our technology leaders to build our market presence. We cultivate collaboration and integrate tech execution across our business, driving a firmwide approach to how we go-to-market and build the capability of our people and attract new talent.

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior DevOps Engineer to lead the design, automation, and optimisation of our cloud infrastructure across Azure and AWS. In this senior role, you will architect scalable platforms, drive DevSecOps excellence, mentor engineers, and deliver robust solutions that support high‑performance applications and AI workloads. You’ll be a technical authority, guiding best practices and shaping the future of our engineering environment.

Your Opportunity

  • Lead the automation of provisioning, configuration, and deployment processes using Terraform, Pulumi, AKS, and other cloud-native tools.
  • Own and advance infrastructure‑as‑code frameworks across Azure and AWS, ensuring scalability, security, and consistency.
  • Architect and optimise containerisation using Docker and AKS, enabling reliable and high‑performing workloads.
  • Ensure high availability, scalability, and resilience across production systems.
  • Develop and implement advanced monitoring, logging, alerting, and observability solutions.
  • Create and refine auto‑scaling infrastructures, particularly for compute‑intensive AI applications.
  • Oversee tools and platforms used for centralised logging, alerting, and analytics.
  • Work closely with engineering teams to ensure seamless application integration and deployment.
  • Design, build, and manage enterprise‑grade CI/CD pipelines using GitHub and Azure DevOps.
  • Develop automation and tooling using Python and other scripting languages.
  • Apply deep expertise in networking: DNS, VPNs, firewalls, load balancers, and cloud networking patterns.
  • Lead cloud cost optimisation initiatives across environments.
  • Champion DevSecOps principles, embedding security into pipelines, infrastructure, and cloud design.
  • Mentor and coach junior engineers, providing technical leadership, training, and strategic direction.
  • Identify architectural bottlenecks and drive continuous improvement initiatives across infrastructure and DevOps practices.

How Are You Extraordinary?

You bring:

  • Leadership excellence, with the ability to influence, guide, and uplift engineering teams.
  • Strategic thinking, balancing immediate delivery with long‑term infrastructure scalability and resilience.
  • Exceptional problem‑solving skills, operating with a proactive, solutions‑oriented mindset in complex cloud environments.

Your Experience

You will succeed in this role with:

  • Extensive experience with Terraform, Pulumi, and infrastructure automation in enterprise environments.
  • Strong hands‑on expertise across Azure and AWS cloud ecosystems.
  • Proven experience architecting and managing container platforms (Docker, AKS).
  • Expertise in building scalable CI/CD pipelines using GitHub and Azure DevOps.
  • Strong scripting skills in Python or similar languages.
  • Deep understanding of networking, cloud security, and DevSecOps best practices.
  • Experience implementing monitoring, observability, and alerting solutions end‑to‑end.
  • A track record of leading or mentoring engineers, guiding architecture discussions, and elevating engineering practices.
  • Experience driving cloud cost optimisation and efficient infrastructure design.
