Job Description

Your Opportunity - Commercial, Contract and Financial Assurance Director

Our Commercial, Contract and Financial Assurance team are leaders in delivering audit, assurance, control and advisory services for major infrastructure projects across the energy, water and transport (road and rail) sectors nationally. We specialise in reviewing payment claims submitted under open‑book contracting arrangements, including Alliances, Incentivised Target Cost Contracts and Managing Contractor Agreements.

Our team provides a wide range of services and works with, or between, both the project owner (typically State Government) and the contractors delivering major infrastructure projects and programs.

Our differentiator is our experience across all aspects of the infrastructure project and program lifecycle, combined with our close connection to KPMG’s broader specialised services. How are you extraordinary?

You will bring recent experience in providing contract compliance or internal audit services to project owners for infrastructure projects or capital‑intensive industries. Additionally:

  • You are passionate about giving project owners real‑time, objective feedback on contractual compliance, financial control, cost management, project controls and other project risks.
  • You can review programs of work, identify and manage risks, support project procurement, understand approvals and provide project updates to stakeholders.
  • You understand and solve client problems while mitigating risks during project delivery.
  • Ideally, you have experience with open‑book cost‑reimbursable contracting arrangements such as Alliancing, Incentivised Target Cost contracts, Managing Contractor Agreements and NEC4 Contracting.
  • You have experience leading teams, facilitating complex stakeholder discussions and ensuring deliverables meet high quality standards.

Your Experience

At KPMG, we believe diversity of thought, background and experience strengthens relationships and delivers meaningful outcomes for our people, clients and communities. To be considered for this opportunity, your qualifications, skills and experience may include:

  • Previous consulting experience, with the ability to manage complex requirements and balance commercial needs with pragmatic approaches.
  • The ability to apply collaborative approaches when performing assignments, ensuring balanced outcomes for all parties - for example, project owners and contractors (designers and constructors).
  • Experience managing and leading teams, from Graduate level to Senior Management, supporting the growth of individual team members.
  • Previous experience in a project and/or program environment across all stages -from concept to delivery - within complex infrastructure programs or capital‑intensive industries.
  • The ability to prepare comprehensive reports and effectively present to and engage with clients.
  • The ability to maintain strong client relationships and build a positive team culture.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills to tackle issues and reach meaningful conclusions.
  • Experience that may include understanding project schedules, cost estimates, financial systems and processes across all project lifecycle stages.
  • A clear understanding of various collaborative contract frameworks and their commercial management requirements.

Qualifications
