KPMG’s Indirect Tax team is a market leading, dynamic, and highly skilled practice, partnering with some of Australia’s most significant organisations and advising on complex, high value transactions. We support clients in managing indirect tax obligations, optimising cash flow, reducing risk, improving governance sophistication, and strengthening their business operations overall.
Due to continued national growth, we are seeking a Senior Manager to join our Indirect Tax team. While ideally based in Sydney or Melbourne, we welcome exceptional candidates across Australia.
Your Opportunity
As a Senior Manager within the Indirect Tax practice of our Tax & Legal division, you will play a pivotal role in shaping our national strategy, leading major client engagements, and driving the continued evolution of our indirect tax offering.
In this senior leadership role, you will:
- Lead complex GST advisory and transaction engagements, acting as the senior technical expert and ensuring high‑quality outcomes.
- Communicate complex GST concepts clearly to stakeholders, including those without a tax background.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to senior executives, while driving market growth through developing client relationships and identifying new business opportunities.
- Mentor and develop a high‑performing team, fostering capability growth, inclusion, and a strong team culture.
- Contribute to national thought leadership and represent the practice through industry insights, publications, and events.
- Champion practice innovation by advancing tax technology, data analytics, and automation to enhance client solutions.

Your Experience
To be considered for this Senior Manager opportunity, you will ideally bring:
- Appropriate experience advising on Australian GST.
- Demonstrated success leading large and complex engagements, transactions / deals experience is ideal but not essential.
- Strong communication skills, able to tailor communication style to different audiences, explain complex concepts, oversee the production of quality written advice.
- Proven people leadership experience, with the ability to mentor and develop high performing teams.
- Strong commercial and strategic capabilities, including business development, client account leadership.
- A track record of leading GST engagements in areas such as advisory, governance or technology enabled solutions, ATO reviews, audits or disputes within a professional services firm or in-house environment.
- Good understanding of indirect tax market trends, regulatory developments, and the evolving role of tax technology and analytics.
