As a Senior Consultant in Technology Risk and Cyber, no two days or projects are the same. You will have the opportunity to learn and contribute to a range of interesting projects, work with numerous diverse clients, and collaborate with different specialist teams. Working to a Manager, you will play a key role helping clients navigate an evolving IT risk landscape. Working with varied clients and sectors (although predominantly across State and Federal Government), you will work collaboratively to undertake audits and assurance projects within a team of IT internal audit professionals, whilst learning and growing your knowledge through exploring a range of IT topics (e.g. data governance, cybersecurity, IT controls, program and project assurance, business resilience, artificial intelligence, etc.). A technical or audit background is not a mandatory requirement to be successful in this role.

In this role, you will contribute to the development of innovative solutions and methodologies, bringing your unique perspective and experiences to help us continuously evolve how we approach technology risk.
This role is based in our Canberra office, offering the opportunity to work with local and national clients across a variety of industries, including Federal and State government.
Due to the nature of this role, candidates must be Australian Citizens and hold (or be eligible to hold) an Australian Federal Government security clearance.
Strict eligibility requirement: Australian Citizenship is a minimum criterion to be considered for this Canberra based position.
About the Team
You will join a local Canberra-based Technology Risk and Cyber team, and a national community of IT internal audit specialists who are passionate about helping clients improve and navigate evolving and emerging technologies. Responsibilities
A working day in a life of a Senior Consultant would typically include:
- Meeting with a range of clients to understand their objectives and challenges and to provide insights and opportunities to improve.
- Working collaboratively in multi-disciplinary teams to follow a structured IT internal audit process (i.e. planning, fieldwork, reporting).
- Supporting a range of different audits across numerous topics, learning new skills and evolving your knowledge on the job, with opportunities for feedback to grow professionally.
- Analysing evidence and translating technical and complex topics into synthesised and value-adding audit outcomes, summarised in impactful reports, often leveraging visual graphics to maximise value for clients.
- Sharing knowledge and experience with other teams across KPMG, to support client work and business development activities, and coaching new team members from time to time.

Experience
There are many translatable skills and capabilities that a successful Senior Consultant in the Technology Risk and Cyber team has:
- Strong written and verbal communicatin skills, with the ability to produce high-quality reports and presentations.
- Detail-oriented and strong time management skills, including the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively within diverse and multi-disciplinary teams.
- An understanding of inclusive behaviours and personal values that recognise the importance of diversity.
- Experience in IT risk, audit and assurance, data, or cyber is highly regarded, but not essential – we welcome applicants from a wide range of academic and professional backgrounds.
Qualifications
- Current security clearance or eligibility for obtaining a security clearance (Australian Citizenship).
- Relevant qualifications in fields including (but not limited to) Information Systems and Technologies, Computer Science, Data Science, other STEM fields, and Business Management and Accounting.
- Professional certifications (e.g., CISA, IIA, ITIL, Prince2, MSP, or similar) are advantageous but not essential.
