Join our dynamic automation & innovation team at KPMG and unlock your full potential! As part of our Audit and Assurance division, you'll be at the forefront of delivering cutting-edge technology solutions that support external audit engagements. Our team is dedicated to providing data-driven, technology-focused solutions that address complex challenges for both our external audit teams and clients.
Your Opportunity
A Manager in the Automation and Innovation team leads a hub within the stream, providing specialist expertise, skills, and business knowledge. The Manager conducts most technical reviews of deliverables from Consultants and Senior Consultants before sharing them with the stakeholders. This role may be performed as an individual contributor providing subject matter expertise or by leading a small team. They offer technical knowledge, direction, and training to junior team members.
The Manager ensures effective project management by achieving profitability targets, and by sharing technical knowledge while coaching and training junior team members. They are involved in the day-to-day management of the team, facilitating industry-specific training, addressing resource challenges, and providing constructive feedback as part of performance development. The Manager promotes collaboration within the firm through engagements and networks.
Responsibilities:
Form part of the Automation & Innovation team where you will perform a key role in driving and developing cutting edge technology to support Audit and Assurance clients by:
- Applying your knowledge to design, build and deploy automated solutions using technologies such as Python, Spark, VBA, C#, Power Platform, cloud technologies and AI-powered solutions.
- Identifying and shaping automation opportunities by working with audit teams and clients to understand their technology journey, uncover pain points and time-consuming repeatable activities, and design solutions that address these needs - either bespoke to a client or scalable across the industry.
- Providing project initiation and governance support by defining and maintaining clear deliverables, objectives, constraints and assumptions, and tracking progress through to completion.
- Overseeing end-to-end testing of solutions (unit, integration, and user acceptance as applicable), validate outputs against requirements and data quality expectations, and coordinate defect triage and remediation prior to release.
- Managing a portfolio of projects with conflicting timelines to be delivered and enhance the uptake of the existing solutions by supporting audit team to use them and understand the outputs.
- Creating and maintaining clear, auditable documentation (requirements, solution design, user guides, test evidence and release notes) and ensure deliverables follow documentation standards and governance procedures.
- Leading team planning, delivery forecasting and resourcing (onshore/offshore mix), and managing budgets to optimise cost while maintaining quality, timelines, and risk controls.
- Build and maintain strong stakeholder relationships through regular, open communication; manage expectations on scope/timelines and act as an escalation point to resolve issues promptly.
- Collaborate closely with other technology teams and risk functions to align solution design, security/compliance requirements, and release readiness, proactively identifying and mitigating delivery risks.
- Overseeing the development of junior team members through coaching and delivering technical training to upskill the team.
- Provide concise, insight-driven information to senior leadership, and confidently present and explain approach, progress, risks, and outcomes to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Driving continuous improvement by challenging current ways of working and implementing repeatable processes, standards and templates that improve quality and efficiency.
- Upholding independence and risk requirements and protecting the firm’s reputation, while supporting core people leadership activities (onboarding, timely feedback and performance-cycle responsibilities) in line with inclusion and diversity expectations.
- Completing training programs and resources to stay updated on industry trends.
