Description and Requirements

We are seeking a highly motivated Packaging Engineer (Shock & Vibration) to join our team. The successful candidate will play a critical role in ensuring the reliability and protection of Lenovo ISG products through effective packaging solutions and rigorous testing. This position requires strong technical skills, creativity in problem-solving, and a commitment to quality.


Key Responsibilities:

  1. Reliability Testing:

    • Plan and execute reliability testing using structural equipment, including Shock Tables, Vibration Tables, Package Drop Machines, and spectrum analyzers.
    • Analyze test results to assess product durability and performance under various conditions.
  2. Validation Test Support:

    • Prepare materials and set up systems for validation testing.
    • Track testing schedules and ensure timely completion of tests.
  3. Protective Packaging Development:

    • Design and develop innovative protective packaging solutions, including cushions and corrugated designs, tailored for Lenovo ISG products.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement packaging designs that meet performance and cost requirements.
  4. Troubleshooting:

    • Identify and resolve transportation packaging issues related to designs, materials, and processes.
    • Provide creative, timely, and cost-effective solutions to packaging challenges.
  5. Laboratory Management:

    • Maintain regular management and upkeep of the laboratory and its facilities.
    • Ensure that laboratory documentation, including Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Work Instructions (WIs), is current and well-maintained.
  6. NPI Participation:

    • Collaborate with New Product Introduction (NPI) and development teams to support the launch of new products.
    • Provide packaging expertise during the product development lifecycle.
  7. Global Collaboration:

    • Work with global manufacturing locations to facilitate packaging introductions and process improvements.
    • Engage with global suppliers to introduce new designs and materials while maintaining packaging quality.
  8. Cost Savings Initiatives:

    • Identify and implement initiatives aimed at reducing costs related to packaging materials, transportation, and overall process efficiency.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Packaging Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with packaging design and reliability testing is preferred.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Familiarity with relevant industry standards and best practices in packaging engineering
  • CAD drawing capability like Creo, AutoCAD.
  • FEA simulation experience - Abaqus, LS-Dyna, ANSYS, etc. is a plus
