Position Description:
Lenovo is seeking a talented and dynamic Sr. Associate Legal Counsel for Lenovo and Motorola’s growing Mobile Business Group (MBG). The position will report to the MBG Legal Director and engage directly with global MBG executives and their teams.
Responsibilities include: providing strategic legal advice and counsel to global business teams in exciting areas such as transactions, strategic alliances and partnerships, product development, supply chain, customer relations, competition, corporate structure, regulatory compliance, and litigation. Further, the Business Unit (BU) Attorney will act as an interface and liaison to MBG for other corporate legal functions such as litigation, IP, ethics and compliance, privacy, marketing, contracting center of excellence, government relations, as well as regional legal teams. The candidate should be knowledgeable in the mechanics and economics of the electronics manufacturing business and be proactive in offering advice and opinions on business and legal issues in order to assist in driving business owners to achieve desired results. Candidate is expected to grow into a role where they are seen as a trusted business advisor and team member pursuing key global business initiatives.
Position Requirements:
- English advanced (mandatory, this role will report to global)
- International law degree
- 5 or more yrs of law firm or in-house experience
- Business, or technical product background (hardware and software) a plus
- Possess knowledge on a variety of legal topics relevant to a technology business, including IP, software, licensing, regulatory, complex transactions, and alliances.
- Ability to balance risk allocation and develop mitigation strategies
- Strong and confident communication skills, with the ability to advocate legal positions, and simplify complex legal issues into coherent, actionable business requirements
- Experience engaging with senior executives of a large multi-national corporation
- Excellent collaboration, project facilitation, and negotiation skills
- Willingness to learn and get involved with a variety of legal issues
- Able to handle a large number of matters and switch priorities as needed
- Experience engaging with colleagues and clients globally is preferred
- Combination of in-house and outside counsel experience preferred
