Lenovo has a great opportunity as a Senior Counsel, Intellectual Property (IP) working with our new semiconductor business based in Shanghai, China. The position is located in Shanghai, China, and reports to the Director of Intellectual Property, working closely with semiconductor business leaders, legal colleagues, and other key stakeholders to support the business.
Job Responsibilities:
Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
1. Drafting and reviewing all portions of contracts and other legal documents relating to intellectual property (in particular IP licensing, joint development, manufacturing, and supply agreements), and participating in related commercial negotiations – all in support of the relevant commercial attorneys.
2. Participating in the formulation of the company's intellectual property-related policies and risk management processes – and in promulgating and enforcing the same. Identifying and communicating intellectual property risk assessments for projects and providing risk mitigation strategies.
3. Providing IP legal consulting, training, and other support to business units, the commercial legal department, and other relevant business and functional departments.
4. From an IP perspective, tracking, analyzing, and interpreting relevant policies and laws in China, and providing legal advice and suggestions based on the company's business and product model.
Job Requirements:
1. Work Experience:
12+ years of working experience in intellectual property law in an international law firm or multi-national company, with computer, communication, information technology, semiconductor, or related industry experience.
2. Education requirements:
- A bachelor’s degree (or above) in Law with the necessary credentials to practice as a lawyer.
- An education background in computer, communication, information technology, or other related majors is strongly preferred.
- Overseas study experience is also preferred, along with experience in, or exposure to, the semiconductor industry.
3. Language Requirements:
Strong written and spoken English
4. Qualification Requirements:
Passing the judicial examination, and passing the patent agent qualification examination, are preferred.
5. Other qualifications:
The successful candidate with be an enthusiastic self-starter with the ability to manage multiple high-priority projects and to perform under time pressure. The candidate should have excellent written and verbal communication skills and be a great team player, ready to take on new challenges. Finally, Lenovo is a large, multi-national company so the ability to communicate and coordinate with teams of different cultures and styles to find effective and balanced solutions will be very important.
