We are in search of a strategic and results-driven BD Director with a profound background in the automotive components industry, specializing in smart cockpit and Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) products. The ideal candidate must hold proven sales and leadership experience with Tier 1 automotive suppliers—leveraging this expertise to formulate long-term business development strategies, drive large-scale new customer acquisition, oversee end-to-end new product launch and business implementation, and lead a high-performing BD team. Exceptional English communication skills and cross-functional leadership capabilities are essential to navigate global business collaborations, align internal resources, and deliver sustainable business growth.
2. Key Responsibilities
A. Strategic Business Leadership
1. Develop and implement long-term business development strategies for smart cockpit and ADAS products, aligning with the company’s overall business goals. Conduct market sizing, competitive analysis, and opportunity assessment to identify high-potential markets (domestic and international) and customer segments.
2. Own the end-to-end management of key business targets (e.g., annual sales revenue, market share, new customer count), set measurable KPIs, track performance against goals, and adjust strategies proactively to address market changes or performance gaps.
3. Lead high-stakes business negotiations with key clients (e.g., global OEMs, large Tier 1 partners) to secure strategic partnerships, long-term supply contracts, and high-value projects, ensuring terms align with company profitability and growth objectives.
B. Team Management & Talent Development
4. Build, lead, and scale a multi-functional BD team (including business development managers, sales specialists, and technical support roles). Define clear team structure, job responsibilities, and performance metrics to drive accountability and efficiency.
5. Develop and implement a talent development roadmap for the BD team: Identify high-potential employees, design personalized career growth plans, provide one-on-one coaching, and organize advanced training (e.g., strategic negotiation, global account management, industry technology updates) to enhance team capabilities.
6. Foster a high-performance team culture centered on collaboration, innovation, and result orientation. Conduct regular team reviews, recognize top performers, address performance issues in a timely manner, and resolve cross-team conflicts to maintain team cohesion.
C. Cross-Functional Collaboration & Execution
7. Collaborate closely with senior leadership to align BD strategies with company-wide initiatives, provide market insights to inform product R&D and investment decisions, and secure resources for key business projects.
8. Partner with internal teams (R&D, Product Management, Operations, Supply Chain) to drive new product development and commercialization: Translate customer needs into product requirements, oversee technical feasibility assessments, and coordinate production and delivery timelines to ensure on-time product launch and business landing.
9. Establish and maintain strategic relationships with key industry stakeholders (e.g., OEM decision-makers, industry associations, technology partners) to stay ahead of industry trends, identify emerging business opportunities, and enhance the company’s brand influence in the smart cockpit and ADAS sectors.
3. Qualifications & Requirements
1. Industry Expertise: 8+ years of business development experience in the automotive components industry, with a focus on smart cockpit or ADAS products. Deep understanding of industry value chains, OEM procurement processes, Tier 1 supplier collaboration models, and global market dynamics.
2. Tier 1 & Leadership Track Record: Must have a proven history of sales and leadership experience with Tier 1 automotive suppliers. Demonstrated success in leading large-scale business initiatives (e.g., securing multi-year OEM contracts, expanding into new regional markets) that drove significant revenue growth.
3. English Proficiency: Fluent English in both spoken and written communication, capable of leading global business meetings, negotiating with international clients, and drafting high-level English business documents (e.g., strategic proposals, contract terms).
4. Strategic & Execution Capabilities: Strong strategic thinking to formulate long-term BD plans, paired with hands-on execution skills to drive project delivery. Ability to analyze complex market data, identify business risks, and develop mitigation strategies.
5. Team Leadership Experience: 5+ years of people management experience, with a track record of building and leading high-performing BD teams (10+ members preferred). Proven ability to mentor leaders, scale team capabilities, and achieve team KPIs consistently.
6. Technical Acumen: Solid understanding of smart cockpit and ADAS core technologies (e.g., in-vehicle infotainment systems, autonomous driving levels L2-L4) to communicate effectively with technical teams and address customer technical requirements.
7. Stakeholder Management: Excellent cross-functional and cross-cultural communication skills, able to influence senior leadership, align internal resources, and build trust with key external clients. Strong negotiation and conflict-resolution abilities.
8. Result Orientation: Highly driven, with a passion for delivering business outcomes. Resilient in fast-paced, competitive environments, and able to adapt to changing market conditions to meet or exceed business goals.
