Description and Requirements

Job Summary

The Carrier Account Manager is a strategic role responsible for engaging with major Japanese mobile operators, with a primary focus on SoftBank but also including other carriers, to drive design-wins and maximize sales performance of Motorola devices in the Japanese market. This role is central to introducing Motorola’s innovative global strategic devices into Japan, planning and executing market entry strategies, and ensuring their successful penetration and sell-through.

The position requires strong account management, strategic planning, business negotiations, and execution capabilities. By building strong partnerships with carriers, distributors, and retail channels, the Carrier Account Manager will play a key role in driving Motorola’s profitable growth and strengthening its brand presence in Japan.

Key Responsibilities

Carrier Strategy & Design-Win

· Understand business requirements of carriers and translate them into effective Motorola strategies.

· Lead business discussions, manage tenders, and secure design-wins through tailored proposals.

· Collaborate with global teams to align product roadmaps and ensure proposals meet carrier expectations.

· Present Motorola’s advanced global product portfolio and technology roadmap to carriers to secure strategic adoption.

Market Entry & Penetration

· Develop and execute strategies to introduce Motorola’s global strategic devices into the Japanese market.

· Drive differentiation versus competitors by aligning Motorola’s global innovation with local market requirements.

· Work closely with the marketing team to implement Go-To-Market (GTM) strategies, incorporating TAM and competitive analysis.

· Support Motorola’s value-added services and content strategy to enhance product penetration.

Sell-Through Maximization & Business Expansion

· Engage with carrier sales divisions, branch offices, and distributors to maximize business opportunities.

· Collaborate with Motorola’s field force (rounders) to strengthen retail-level execution and maximize sell-through performance.

· Organize and lead sales support programs, training initiatives, and retail channel enablement.

· Build and sustain strong relationships across multiple stakeholders inside carriers and distribution partners.

Knowledge / Expertise

· Strong professional network in the mobile industry, particularly within carriers.

· Proven experience in pre-sales, high-touch sales, tender management, and business negotiations.

· Excellent presentation, communication, and relationship-building skills.

· Knowledge of mobile device development and technology is a plus.

· Experience working in a global organization and proficiency in English communication are preferred.

· Strong financial acumen to manage profitability and propose comprehensive business solutions.

· Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the telecommunications industry (device manufacturer or carrier).

Solution Complexity / Strategic Thinking

· Support problem identification and resolution; develop contingency plans with related teams.

· Manage medium to high complexity projects, often handling multiple concurrent carrier proposals requiring customized coordination of sales and marketing.

· Act as a strategic leader connecting Motorola’s global device strategy with Japan’s market requirements, driving long-term growth and profitability.
