Come to the heart of Chicago, Illinois to join Motorola Mobility's 312 Labs Development Team as a Baseband Hardware Engineer. You will have the opportunity to work with various interdisciplinary departments including Mechanical, RF/Antenna, Software, Supply Chain, and Industrial Design to develop, optimize, and integrate analog and digital circuits into best-in-class mobile products. This team focuses on innovative and creative designs with consumer appeal to differentiate in the market and lead the next generation of unique devices. The 312 Labs organization focuses on applied research and advanced product engineering expertise to investigate new form factors, experiences, and emerging trends such as AI in order to accomplish Lenovo’s goal of “smarter technology for all”.
Position Scope:
Electrical schematic and layout design
Researching and architecting innovative and cutting-edge technologies into concepts and consumer mobile devices
Baseband simulation, validation, optimization, and debug efforts with prototype hardware in a lab environment
End-to-end design ownership including interfacing with all relevant teams (software, supply chain, business, vendors) to ensure successful product builds and experiences
Work with technologies in the areas of microprocessor, camera, display, battery, power management, sensors, audio, thermal, etc.
Opportunity for embedded MCU and Android software development
Problem-solve, triage, and resolve complex hardware issues; collaborate with other engineers on problem investigation
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's in Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field, and 2+ years of full-time, relevant work experience
Past experience designing digital and analog circuits, preferably related to mobile consumer electronics
Familiarity with schematic capture and PCB layout (Cadence/Allegro preferred)
Experience with prototype bring-up, debugging, functional verification, and manufacturing support
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous experience in high-speed board design, including layout of chipsets, memory, high speed interfaces, and power delivery network
Knowledge of microprocessors, power supplies, voltage regulators, batteries/charging, thermal, peripherals such as sensors, display/touch, imagers, audio, etc.
Experience designing with various hardware interfaces such as MIPI, USB, SPI, I2C/I3C, UART
Flexible PCB design and layout knowledge
Embedded software development experience (C/C++), Android development experience (Java/C++), or other programming proficiency (Visual Basic, Python, LabView, etc.)
Strong written and verbal communication skills for a variety of tasks
Demonstrated ability to work effectively in both a team environment and self-directed; passionate about learning new technologies and skills.
The base salary budgeted range for this position is $90k - 115K. Individuals will also eligible for an annual performance bonus. This role will join us at our Chicago, IL location on a hybrid schedule onsite 3 days/week. Lenovo’s various benefits can be found on www.lenovobenefits.com.
