Description and Requirements
We are hiring a Data Science Intern to join our team in Morrisville, NC. This is a hybrid position and requires onsite availability. Relocation assistance will not be provided. The target start date will be May 2026 with the option to extend into Fall 2026. This is a full-time internship (40 hours/week).
This position reports into Lenovo’s General Procurement (GP) organization and is designed to support cross-functional collaboration across Source-to-Pay departments. The primary mission is to foster a data-driven culture by delivering high-quality data and digital solutions to procurement stakeholders. This role directly supports Lenovo’s broader digital transformation strategy to evolve as One Lenovo.
In this role you will:
- Apply basic foundation of a function's principles, theories and concepts to assignments of limited scope.
- Use professional concepts and theoretical knowledge acquired through specialized training, education or previous experience.
- Develop expertise and practical knowledge of applications within business environment.
- Act as team member by providing information, analysis and recommendations in support of team efforts. Exercise independent judgment within defined parameters.
Responsibilities:
- Work with Data Scientist Professionals to understand problem statements, project initiation needs, and analytical direction.
- Collaborate and communicate with the team regarding project progress, issue resolution, and opportunities for enhancements.
- Maintain proficiency in the data science domain by staying current with technology, tools, and industry trends.
- Develop data visualization modules for the data collected from General Procurement information, transforming raw data into meaningful insights.
- Use statistics, mathematics, algorithms, and programming languages to analyze data and develop clear analytical outputs.
- Generate forecasts and projections that support strategic decision‑making and Data Governance initiatives.
Who You Are:
- Currently pursuing or have recently completed a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in Mathematics, Economics, Physics, Computer Science, or equivalent
- Experienced with programming languages such as SQL and Python, knowledge of Power BI is a plus
- Ability to apply strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Understanding of disparate unstructured and structured data in a distributed environment.
- Ability to create basic models to pull insights from data.
- Can create stories and visualizations to describe and communicate data insights.
- Demonstrates analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Creative - ability to think outside of the box and willingness to try new solutions
- A highly collaborative and responsible individual with a positive mindset
- Good written and verbal communication skills; mastery in English and local language (Mandarin proficiency a plus)
