Description and Requirements

Lenovo’s Solutions and Services Group (SSG), within Hybrid Cloud Services (HCS), is seeking a Modular Data Center Principal Consultant to lead the design and delivery of scalable, high-performance infrastructure solutions. In this role, you will transform complex customer and technical requirements into efficient, future-ready modular data center designs, with a strong focus on power architecture, advanced cooling technologies, and AI/HPC (high-performance computing) environments. Acting as a key technical interface, you will collaborate closely with customers and cross-functional teams to deliver solutions that are practical, cost-effective, and aligned with business objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engineer robust power and cooling systems, including UPS, switchgear, redundancy models (N, N+1, 2N), and advanced cooling technologies (liquid, hybrid, DX, chilled water).
  • Evaluate site conditions and climate factors to optimize energy efficiency, including economization strategies and PUE/WUE performance.
  • Create technical documentation, including drawings, single-line diagrams, layouts, and cost estimates to support proposals.
  • Engage with customers through discovery sessions, site assessments, RFP/RFI responses, and technical presentations to define and validate solutions.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with sales, product, suppliers, and Lenovo Neptune® experts while driving thought leadership and best practices in modular, high-density, and energy-efficient data center design.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering with 3+ years’ experience in data center engineering, infrastructure design, modular construction, or technical sales support.
  • Strong knowledge of power systems, including UPS, switchgear, PDUs, grounding, redundancy models (N, N+1, 2N), and power distribution calculations.
  • Solid expertise in cooling systems such as CRAC/CRAH, DX, chilled water, liquid cooling, airflow management, and heat load calculations.
  • Proficiency in reading and creating engineering drawings using AutoCAD, Revit, or similar tools.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to clearly present complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Familiarity with industry standards such as TIA-942, ASHRAE TC 9.9, and Uptime Institute. (preferred)
  • Understanding of modular and prefabricated data center construction and factory-built infrastructure. (preferred)
