Description and Requirements

This role is open for the Edinburgh, Scotland location only. Candidates must be based there, as the position requires working from the office at least three days per week (3:2 hybrid policy).

Summary:

Lenovo is seeking an experienced Technical Program Manager (TPM) to drive the successful delivery of complex AI systems, applications, and model development projects. As a TPM, you will serve as a bridge between multiple technical teams, product management, and stakeholders, operating in a fast-paced, globally distributed company. Crucially, this role requires a strong technical foundation – the ability to understand and articulate complex technical details is essential for effective communication and problem-solving with our engineering and data science teams. You will be responsible for program planning, execution, risk management, and communication, ultimately ensuring we deliver high-quality AI solutions on time. Responsibilities:

  • Project Planning and Execution: Define program scope, objectives, and deliverables in collaboration with cross-functional teams. Develop detailed project plans, timelines, and resource allocation strategies.

  • Technical Leadership: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, product management, and stakeholders, to drive project delivery. Understand the big-picture and the system level to answer questions and clarify requirements.

  • Risk Management: Identify, assess, and mitigate risks associated with technical projects, ensuring timely resolution of issues.

  • Communication: Serve as a primary point of contact for project stakeholders, providing regular updates on project status, progress, and issues.

  • Project Monitoring and Control: Track project metrics, identify deviations from plans, and implement corrective actions as needed.

  • Process Improvement: Develop and implement process improvements to enhance project delivery efficiency and effectiveness.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

  • Experience: 8+ years of experience in technical program management, software development, or a related field, with a proven track record of successfully delivering complex projects.

  • Technical Skills: Strong understanding of software development methodologies, technical architectures, and industry trends, with the ability to understand and discuss technical concepts related to AI/ML, particularly Large Language Models (LLMs).

  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.

  • Project Management Skills: Proven experience with project management tools (e.g. Atlassian), techniques, and methodologies (e.g. Agile). PMP, PRINCE2, or another project management certification is a plus.
